New ride Boarding Passes

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Guy_With_A_Stick on July 6th, 2014, 4:57 pm
I just got back from the park(in which I rode Raging Bull), and I found out that Raging Bull had 2 differences from the last time I was there:

1) Three trains running(yay!)

2) Boarding Passes.

They didn't say Raging Bull or anything, it was just "Six Flags Great America Ride Boarding Pass" with the warnings about line cutting/leaving on the back. I think they did this on some other rides as well, like V2 and X-Flight, but I'm pretty sure it won't last long. Mine was number 17,197 or something like that.

Yes, I know this probably doesn't need a new topic, but I just wanted to share it with you guys.

I went on June 29th and they were using them. Except they had Deja Vu on the pass. They must of ran out of Raging Bull ones.

I really wish they would use these a lot more.

Whenever Great America emails me asking me for feedback on my visit, the one thing I always mention is to stay on top of the line cutting.

The line tickets used to be much more ubiquitous; I can remember them being as just about every major ride back in the late 90's early 2000's.

When I taught high school back in New Jersey, my students always boasted about going to Great Adventure and simply saying "Excuse me" to everyone in line until they got up to the station. They said most people were too scared to cause a fight over line cutting and people would let them cut. The line cutting at Great Adventure is huge problem and I would hate to see that spill over to Great America.

If anyone is considering cutting, I think the tickets will discourage them. However, if we look back to when they were phased out, one of the problems was that the collector would never look at them; they would just be staring off daydreaming while collecting tickets.

Another benefit from the tickets (and the new signs I saw near Goliath) was to discourage people from getting in line until everybody is ready. People like to get in line and then have one person head to the restroom, another to concession stand, and then those two people have to cut in line to join their group. With the tickets, the group will now have to say "Oh. Guess we gotta get the snack and restroom stuff out of the way first then get in line"

I think they didn't have any. I remember them using Deja-Vu Boarding Passes during Fright Fest for RB before. When I went on Friday, I got in line at about 11 and I was #358. Those were the last three numbers beside zero, they must have been new.

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P

When I rode Raging Bull today, they were not handing out boarding passes.

Haven't they been doing this on Goliath everyday? I remember them handing them out during Fright Fest some years.

Yes and Yes. The topic at hand is RB getting new Boarding Passes. As in Boarding Passes that are actually for RB.

I can understand having these if the ride breaks down and they are able to fix it or incloement weather but to pass these out for every person that is riding seems like a waste of money. Just make the lines so narrow that people cannot get around anyone else, also don't have them as bars do chain link or wood panels. Another thing is to have someone right at the enterance to the flash pass and not 15 paces into the ride station.

What if you wish to leave the queue line or want to leave because the ride is down?

How much do you think pads of paper cost? And what kind of experience do you think hours in narrow lines with chain link fences around them would be?

Uuum once you're in line if you leave thats it. You can't leave and then come back otherwise what would be the purpose of the lines? If the ride is down then they should give a pass but not if everything is uning fine.

Because as you said, the lines are so narrow that people can not get past other people. So how are you supposed to leave the line?

I was at the park on 7/7/14 and they issued passes on Goliath and Raging Bull... Goliath they actually checked numbers as well... There was a large group (about 12 people) that got in line just ahead of my buddy and I and there was a hold up when some of the last people in the group ended up being the 1st to the pass taker... The issue was quickly resolved without indecent, but it was nice to see them paying attention...

Raging Bull was a different story however... The guy taking the passes was in total zombie mode...
