Google Street View of SFGAm

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby DejaVu2001 on November 5th, 2011, 7:48 pm
Google now has Street View inside SFGAm (does not include Hurricane Harbor). It appears the images were taken between June 18th and June 21st, 2011.

that's really weird with a bunch of ghost people that were there in one shot but not the next, and everyones face blurred out.

I thought it was weird that V2 had a shorter line than IW. It looked like it just opened. B:TR was also closed.

Is this still working for everyone? I can look at street view on rides just fine but when I try to get it in the park it won't let me. The blue path shows up but it says theres no data available for it.

^ It is currently not working anywhere in the park. I can get street view at Guest Drop Off, but as soon as I start moving toward Superman, the screen goes black and says "This image is no longer available"

With google maps, entering a property or lot is not allowed. It is private property, which is why you can only get street views for anything.

^ Huh? Not sure what you are trying to say here, but Google was inside the park, and had a Public Relations and Security escort.

Vu,

I think he was trying to say that "typically" Google can only do public street areas.

But with the permission of the park, obviously they were able to do the park. I'd be curious to know how many photos needed to be taken and how long it took to do it.

Thanks for the support. Not only did I mean that the park probably is in fact private for google maps, but also if you use the "street view" feature for google maps, you wont be able to enter the park. The street view is POV street views of an area...basically if you were the driver of the car.

^ That is exactly why I made a point of clearly saying that they obviously had authorization from the park to be inside the park with the Street View equipment.

but Google was inside the park, and had a Public Relations and Security escort.

Plus, how would they even get this into the park without permission:

That guy is a little creepy looking. I'm not sure I'd trust him when he says he's from Google.

^WTH? lol How did you find that?? Looks can be deceiving. So I'm assuming this guy rides the bike all over the park or wherever he needs to get images from for google maps?

So at one point SFGAm actually had street view available within the park? Why is it not accessible now? Anyone know? All I can get to come up is the parking lot and the entrance to the employee parking lot, but nothing within the park itself.

It was only up for a few weeks/months, IIRC; then disappeared with no explanation.

Bummer on it being pulled for whatever reason. Most of the major parks in the US have street view available. SFMM, SFGAdv, SFOG, CP, KD, KI, BGW, BGT, etc. Wish they still had it so I can take a "stroll" through SFGAm during the winter, haha.

If you're talking about actually inside the park, SFMM and SFGAd have no such thing. Just checked. Didn't feel like looking through the others, just to get disappointed.

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P

That's weird, when I tried it the arrow would turn into a box if I tried going anywhere near the actual park. From there, it would just move side to side, not forward. :?

Probably also worth pointing out that California's Great America is in there - it's fascinating to compare it to our park and see how much is still the same (and how much is very very different).

You know, I checked it out and I also checked out other SF parks.
I was able to get street view inside Magic Mountain, Great Adventure, King's Island, and Cedar Point.
I'm not sure why SFGAm won't allow people to get street views of their park.
