Security and the metal detecters at SFGAm - A question

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Hey, I got a question about security and the metal detecters at SFGAm. How often do they ask you to remove your belt? Or shoes? If they can see the belt set off the detecter, than will they let you keep it on without removing it and steping back through the detecter? The only metal piece on my belt is the buckle. I hope it doesnt set the thing off.

It depends on the detector (some might be calibrated stronger or something), but yes if it goes off you will need to take your belt off. For awhile I just took mine off by default before going-through. No clue about shoes, though.

I never have this problem. I wear a belt with a metal buckle and the thing never goes off. They never ask me to remove my shoes, and I have never seen them ask anyone to remove their shoes. When getting ready to go through metal detection I always have my bag ready with the pockets opened this way I can breeze through. They usually tell me to take my bag to the table they poke through it with the stick and I am on my way.

^You wear steel toed boots to the park? Why? I own a pair but only for occupational reasons.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

It's all I ever wear, work or otherwise. Never really owned more than one pair of shoes at a time. Also mine are 8" boots, I like the extra support, I got wonky knees and ankles.

Ugh I can't imagine thats comfortable in 90 degree temps, or on some rides. You don't do water rides do you? That would really sour my day walking around in wet boots all day.

that's one of the benefits actually, completely waterproof. As far as temp, I'm always comfortable, prob got used to it 10+ years ago. It is worth noting that when I wear shorts (pretty rare) I usually dig up on old pair of normal shoes, never feels right wearing em though.
