That's sort of like wondering why they're building a new wood roller coaster when there are already wood roller coasters a few steps away in either direction.
I don't know that I'd say this is an accurate comparison. By that logic, what sense does it make to build any new roller coasters since there are already a dozen or so as it stands? What was the purpose of Hurricane Harbor? The people who run the show chose to designate a large chunk of land for water rides, which to this day remains included with the gate**. I agree with you that going to the waterpark complicates things (as you mentioned, change of clothes, etc.), but even without Buccaneer Battle, the dry side already has Roaring Rapids/Yankee Clipper/Logger's Run (I don't include Splashwater Falls because it has since been done away with). I'm not dismissing your point of view, just throwing mine out there.
**I emphasize this because it would make a lot more sense if the plan is to eventually separate the two gates.

The purpose of Hurricane Harbor is that, on a hot summer day, there are a lot of people who would never want to go due in the heat in the main park but who DO want to go to a water park. Plus, I have to assume it's pretty profitable - I know not everybody is going to be like me, but I'm a pass holder and I very rarely spend any money in the park. The one thing I do usually have to spend money on is getting a locker if I go to HH, just to have a safe place to keep my wallet and keys. That money adds up.
It just seems weird that you're fine with a dozen roller coasters (and I am too, my argument about not building any more wasn't a serious one), but you think four water rides (two of which don't even get you very much) is too many. The park has to have a mix of things to draw in the biggest number of people...

^ That right there....
And it's also sinking, or is that Magnum XL?
In all seriousness, SUF remains one of the most popular attractions in the park because it's a hit with the GP. Even though a big reason it's out of the entrance almost every single day is because the capacity is poor, it still draws in big crowds. It's over a decade old already but the general public still looks at this ride as a big deal because it's something far different than a traditional sit down roller coaster. Being at the entrance where it's very noticeable also grabs people's attention when they're getting out of their cars in the lot and approaching the front gates.
Also, if they ever did take out Superman, I doubt they would leave that area vacant for 4 years before replacing it with another roller coaster. I would think they would add a new coaster the very next season or 2 years at most after they would remove it. It would be weird to have a section of empty land just sitting at the front of the park empty for 4 years at a major park like SFGAm. I'm all for SUF being replaced (because I'm not a fan of it), as long as the new ride is thrilling and has much better capacity. I just don't see it going anywhere for a while as long as the queue line continues to fill each day.

For all the Superman Versus Demon people: Superman is boring and Demon has structural problems. Saying one should stay over the other is dumb. Demon is the obvious choice but that doesn't mean I'm rooting for Superman either. I honestly hope both of them get replaced. We all know that Superman isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Too bad the two aren't right next to each other. You could get rid of both and we could get a by attraction. Our coaster count will go down though
Wow, there are ALOT of Superman HATERS on this forum! Seems like myself and only one other person are the only one who do NOT HATE Superman!!! Seems to me EVERYONE HATES Superman!
Wow, this is a strange rumor. I highly doubt that it is true, however I guess you could result in no ride at the park being safe at all. RC got put in in 04' and its already gone. So I guess we will have to see what happens at the end of the year. Also, since it came from a Facebook page about SFGAm rumors, I wouldn't read too much into it. Screamscape has a higher prediction rate about that stuff (Yes, I know they were off their game a bit with this years announcement)
When you get to the top, and you hear that click, you better hang on, because your coming down quick!

No ride is ever safe

Is there any reason you capitalize every other word?

Why do you need to cap every other word. You sound like a child.

Well I know some said it was a bad ride, but Z-Force only lasted 2 years here and at SFOG. Also Turn of the Century only lasted 2 years before being upgraded. Is it possible we could see some changes in layout? instead of a total removal.
coasterkidd100 wrote:^I am not sure how you can keep the coaster from leaving but I do agree that it is a great coaster. I do not want to see it leave anytime soon.
It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? (Sorry in advance for unnecessary commas and parenthesis every where)
Please. The GP is in love with it still, and it's a B&M so it's easy to maintain. Unfortunately, the ride won't be going anywhere for a long time.
As for why I and many others don't care for it: The ride dies after the Pretzel. It doesn't do much of anything. Minimal sustained intensity. Line that is outrageous all day because of a combination of high popularity and low capacity. The flying position is uncomfortable, especially when you're stuck on the brake run (though don't get me wrong, it's far better than the Vekoma Flyers and I'm sure the Zamperlas). You might compare Batman and Superman on the basis that both were essentially gimmicks when they came out. The difference is that Batman has stood the test of time as a great ride in its own right; Superman is interesting only because of the position you are in. Sure, it's great the first few times. But is there anyone who's been on it 50+ or 100+ times who still loves it just as much as they did the first time? YMMV, but I find it to be one of the least repeatable coasters in the park.
I actually really like the Demon. Mostly because it's one of the easier rides to catch with a short line. I'm sure it'll be one of the next to leave and I'm hoping that it lasts a good long while. If it's not the next one I expect it to be the first of the remaining Marriott coasters to go.

Exactly, Unless it's as lame as Buccaneer Battle, anything with a short line is a good ride in my book.

I hope that both Superman and Demon will last for just a little bit longer.
Now, I like both coasters, Superman can be fun, I really like the rush of the wind in your face and the speed of that ride. The flying position can be uncomfortable, especially if you get stuck on the brake run waiting for the next train to vacate the station.
Demon is a good classic coaster that I like to ride just before the park closes. It's one of the few rides that will have a very short line to no line at all at 9pm to closing. I have ridden it 10 to 12 times in a row when the park was only a half hour away from closing on several occasions. Granted it is a headbanger, like ShockWave was, but it's no where as bad as ShockWave was. If you can keep your head steady as much as possible when riding it, then you should have no problem.
With the coaster count in our park, we are good for now. Hell, we got Goliath. I am content with 12 or 13.
I see Demon leaving in our future. It could get scrapped but it's not totally unreasonable that it could relocate. SUF will not be scrapped and honestly it probably wont be relocated soon either. It get's too many riders. Possibly a relocation in the distant future though.
Relocation is a good option for our park in the future. We are land locked and will have to lose coasters to gain any. We can send some of our coasters to other parks that have room or do have room to expand and add a new coasters thus expanding Six Flags as a whole.

Yes it is totally unreasonable to relocate Demon. It has structural issues and constantly needs welding. On top of that, the track is welded together (not bolted), so when they take it down, they'll have to cut it apart.

I would be more than happy to bid farewell to Superman in exchange for a a Giant Floorless looper like SCREAM! from Magic Mountain. Even though one is a wing rider and one is a flyer, I always viewed X-Flight as being an improved version of Superman.
A rumor I believe from Screamscape last year or the year before was sending Superman to Six Flags St. Louis and sending Bizzaro from Great Adventure in Superman's place here.
I'd be down for that - Bizzaro is a great ride. Very fun and action packed.
