Will Superman be the One of the Next Rides to Leave!?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Goliath72165 on March 1st, 2014, 11:48 pm
Recently on Facebook, there was a new page created entitled Six Flags Great America Rumors. One of the many rumors that I read is that Superman Ultimate Flight will be the next ride to LEAVE the park and be relocated to another park. Superman has been around for 11 years. I hope to God doesn't screw up and remove Superman! Superman is an INCREDIBLE ride! It is one of my all time favorite roller coasters. I know the ride is slightly underrated but WHY GET RID OF IT!? PLASE remove Demon and NOT Superman. Lets all hope SF doesn't, remove Superman!

Tell me, what are your thoughts. Do you think Superman will be removed soon?

I REALLY hope Superman is the next ride to leave.... it's such a terribly boring ride. Demon needs to stay around as long as possible, it's fun and it's a classic.

I sure hope not. I agree with you, Superman is a tremendously fun ride. It happens to be number 17 on my top 30 list of favorite roller coasters. I find it very unlikely that SFGAm would decide to remove Superman anytime soon. It has been around for 11 years which may sound like a long time however when you think about it, it's not that long. Superman is still one of the most popular rides at the park and I'm sure SF would know better not to remove the ride. If they do remove it to build another ride, SF might have a hard time because Superman is right next to a neighborhood. In fact Superman is the ride that most of the neighbors complain about.

Don't worry, I'm almost positive that we will see Superman stay at the park for a long time.

Honestly, I hope this rumor is true. First off Superman is not an incredible ride and second, it is overrated not underrated. It is a waste of space and a very boring ride.
Also, please refrain from capitalizing complete words as you have. It is annoying, and it makes you look stupid. Thanks.

I completely disagree however, I still respect your opinion. Let me ask you this, would you rather have Demon or Superman removed?

This thread should be titled "Tell everyone what you think of Superman!"

In fact, most threads are actually just lists of opinions about certain rides, not "discussions" as their titles attempt to assert.

Me? I don't really care either way about Superman's fate.

I think I suggested this?

Just makes the most sense to me in regards to Six Flags' recent strategies of relocating rides to some of the lower performing parks. Needs to be easily moved (SUF just needs level ground), fairly new a reliable (yes) and also creates a simple plot of land for a new ride for SFGAm.

Then again, if the chain decides not to move rides again in the near future, then my money would be on Demon or Whizzer.

I for one would prefer Superman leaving, as opposed to Demon. Superman's popularity shouldn't be based on wait times. It has really bad capacity. Sure Demon doesn't get as many riders as Superman, most probably wouldn't that Demon does generate a line because of the capacity. Demon is a classic. Park original. (If you count Turn of the Century) Superman is a rather large waste of space, especially when you consider how well ShockWave used it. Personally, I have only been on the S:UF series of B&M flyers but I would rather have a Vekoma Flying Dutchman. Batwing was very impressive.

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P

Why do neighbors complain about it? The ride is shorter, slower, and quieter than Shockwave... Wait it's Gurnee locals, I forgot who I was talking about. Sorry.

I'd rather have Gurnee locals complaining than even half of what Alton Towers deals with.

I agree that Superman is overrated. The only reason I love having SUF is that pretzel loop & lets be honest, it's one of the many attractions that make us a well rounded park. I wish we had a flyer like Tatsu. In all reality I would want them to replace superman with a better B&M flyer lol. Sadly I see that as a 10% of happening, if that. so I'd rather keep SUF from us losing a well rounded collection. I'm not making any sense am I? Well, that's how I feel. Im pretty sure.... yep.

While I personally don't love Superman, I can't see it leaving anytime soon. The GP loves it, so doubt they would take it out. If anything, my bet would be on Demon being next to go.

I could definitely see St. Louis acquiring it as they seem to be missing a large new(er) steel coaster from their lineup. Although if we're talking about the top performing parks in the chain participating in the ride rotation program again.....it could also mean that GAdv could be asked to give theirs up as well.

The only people who know what's next aren't going to say anything about it anyhow.

How about Remove V2? That way you could have a Full Throttle like coaster where Cajun was and go around the Flumes ending with a 170ft? Vertical loop where V2 is.

...No. Keep V2. There are no rules that you can only have one launch coaster. Just ask King's Dominion circa 2006 ;)

I never agreed that SUF was leaving I just listed my reasons as to why I would hate to see it go. BUT lets be honest, it seems to have a lot of issues for a B&M & as mentioned capacity is a major one. That ride should be dishing out people more than it does.

I'm conflicted on this weird rumor but only time will tell & right now SUF is goin to be sharing the park with an amazing new RMC.

I would do cartwheels if they decided to ship S:UF out of here. I can't see it happening though. It's most likely just wishful thinking on the part of whoever was behind the posting-not getting my hopes up.

I highly doubt that will happen anytime soon but that sure would be a hell of a large plot of land for something way better!

Hey, Deja Vu was murdered for Buccaneer Battle. Although I agree that BB was somethin the park needed(& they did a great job with that ride) The land doesnt mean anything in terms of replacement with an attraction even slightly of equal value.

It would be worth the risk! A lot bigger than Déjà Vus area too.

I'm not sure I agree that they needed Buccaneer Battle. I think kidzopolis, camp cartoon, and the many other family rides they have did a fine job. They also had plenty of water rides in both flumes, rapids, and HH. But I'm getting off topic here.

I don't think Superman should leave and won't leave for awhile. I'm not too sure why everyone on here has so much hate for superman. It's a great, solid ride that most people think is great. And I think it is one of the rides that brings people to the park. Does anyone think Demon draws a ton of people to the park? I doubt it; if Demon left, the same amount of people would come through the gates if it was still here. However, if Superman left, I think the drop in attendance would be fairly significant. It would make more room for another coaster, but I don't think our park will get another coaster for about 4 years (total estimate).

The addition of a water ride in Deja Vu's lot despite the brand new water park a few steps away was a head-scratcher to me.

That's sort of like wondering why they're building a new wood roller coaster when there are already wood roller coasters a few steps away in either direction.

Maybe it's different for some people, but at least for me and my family a Water RIDE is very different than a Water PARK. The Water Park is a huge time investment - we have to bring a change of clothes and go get a locker and get a chair and etc. It's not really a spur of the moment thing. A Water Ride is much more of something we'd just do as part of a normal park day. Not that BB is necessarily a good one (I still miss Splashwater Falls), but water rides are important.

The removal of Demon may not drop attendance. I just feel like parks are so quick to get rid of their history and move on too fast.
