Rides You're Super Picky About Seating With

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby BBH on February 28th, 2014, 1:14 am
Some rides are great in one seat and lackluster in another. Are there any that stand out as must-rides in one specific spot?

For me, it's X-Flight. Row 1, Left Wing, Outside Seat is a must. Back row on Viper, right side, as well.

I don't see what the point of Raging Bull is unless your sitting in row 9. Say what you want about the ride after that trim snares you on the camelback, but the first drop in the very last row might just be the best in all of coasterdom alongside El Toro. It's a shame that B&M designed the dip out of their hypercoasters after the first two they built. I'd love to see how that would feel in one of their longer second-gen trains.
Apart from that, the first drop of Demon is also best sampled in the last row- I think that's the best airtime in the park (apart from the aforementioned row 9 RB drop and Giant Drop if you want to count that). While Iron Wolf was here, it was exclusively row 1 for me to get the smoothest and most powerful ride, I think that applies to all of B&M's Standup coasters. I stick to either row 8 or row 1 on Batman.

^Couldn't have said it better myself.

Bull, back row.

Demon, last car, front row (My legs need the extra room, but holy cow do they fly on that first drop).

And Front row or nothin' on Batman.

Other than that, throw me anywhere. Though, in my experience, back row is usually the best.

Is this just SFGAm specified?

Well for SFGAm, gonna agree with everyone. RB: in row 9. Demon: last car/row. For others I'd say...

AE, Red front row/car(1-3)

V2 has to be rows 1-3.

XF back left wing or front left wing.

Back row of RB. No point in even riding it if you don't sit there

1st car, 3rd row on Magnum

Seats toward the front on rougher coasters

Floorless seat on SkyRush

V2 close to the back

Cyclops back row

Hades and Mantits- the bench next to the rides :)

I am odd and usually depends on how much each row has to wait. I would just like to get in as many rides a possible.
V2: Front if reasonable, otherwise as far back as I can get without waiting too long(which usually puts me in Row 13)
Batman: As far to the front as possible. Unless it's soon after opening, that usually puts me in row 2.
Iron Wolf while it was still here: I liked the front the best but usually the grouper would be a d**k and put us wherever, taking no requests.
American Eagle(Both sides) Front Row or as far back as possible. Usually putting me in row 2. last car.
X-Flight: I have learned to never use the left wing, as the handicapped system thing (I'm not sure exactly what it is :?) uses that and have a possibility of delaying your flight by taking your row. So on the right side, as front as possible. Usually putting me at row 2, outside seat.
Demon: Front Row, or last car, front row. I need the leg room. I totally agree, for how short the drop is, it has the best airtime in the park.
Raging Bull: Last two rows, depending on which one is more reasonable.
Viper: Last row.
Whizzer: Simply: Which ever is shortest.
Superman: If it's during the day, as far back as possible. The Gs are amazing towards the back. During the night, as far front as possible, usually putting me in row 2.
*If you want to get front row on a B&M without waiting so much. Wait in the second row. However it works out, if there is a group of two and then a group of three or four. Or there's a group of three. Bottom Line, there might be an open sit for you up front. Take it.

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P

On most coasters I prefer the front row.
X-Flight- Left wing front row outside seat and back row outside seat on both wings is where I will usually sit.
Viper- Front row
AE- Front row
B:TR- Front row

Demon in car 5, front row. I'm not really picky about the other rides in the park but I do prefer Bull in the back.

back row or near back for most all coasters with the exception of inverted coasters like B:TR because of the obstructed view. Not only is the sensation of weighlessness and being "pulled" along the course more felt toward the back, but i love to see the cars ahead of me traverse the track, especially on X-Flight. That thing is so massive it's like poetry in motion!

One of the glorious things about Iron Wolf is that many had no idea about keeping to the left on the stairs for front row. Once they realized it, they just kind of shrugged it off and kept going to populate rows 2-7. Typically, my wait time for row 1 was equal to or less than the wait times of those in line for rows 2-7. On the rare occasion that I encountered a grouper, I'd just say that I'm willing to wait for row 1 and never ran into any problems. I miss being able to do that.

While this was probably true at one time, like Batman or Raging Bull, Towards the latter years of Iron Wolf's life, the right side was used for Flash Pass. Even they didn't get to choose their row with a grouper.

Batman, Viper, V2, Demon, X Flight (left side) and Bull are all back row rides for me.
American Eagle depends more on the trims than where you sit, I've had great rides all over the train.
All the other coasters don't matter.

X Flight has them in the fourth row. I think the only difference is longer seat belts.

Since Sfgam is my home park I have very picky seating....Especially since I visit often I have the extra time waiting for rows.

X-Flight: Four corners(Outside)
American Eagle: Front Row Red
Batman Front row far left seat
Viper front row or back row right seat.

Raging bull: Back Row outside
Batman: second row outside
Demon: Back Row I like the pull of the first drop
V2: either very front or very back
Eagle: Blue back row
XFlight: Front row right outside, either works but front row is a must to even be on the ride at all

For me it's been mostly front row on everything at SFGAm.

I love RB in the front, Batman in the front, Eagle: Red - front, Demon - front, Viper - front, Superman - front, V2 in the front (that's a lot of fun). Although, recently I have started to switch it up a little, I will tend to do the back row as well. The very back row.

I have done Demon in the very back, but haven't had a chance to ride anything else in the very back row, yet. I think on my next visit, I'll be switching between front and back on all the coasters. I will try to get out there in early May. I got to process my season pass after all, what better time than to do it in May?
