Postby Iron Wolf 90-11 on January 18th, 2014, 10:01 pm
Hello,
I was wondering if anybody attended NoCoasterCon 2014 today. If so could they fill us all in in any information from the event? Also, post any pictures that they took from the event? Thanks.

Food. Although no new locations were mentioned, the tacos make me think we may be getting a Macho Nacho location that some of the other parks got last year.

I apologize about the quality of some of the pictures. Unfortunately the event was set up in an all tables configuration this year which was a really stupid move in my opinion and made getting shots harder.

Looks like another great year for the park! I'm surprised they decided to keep the Ignight stage, but I'm happy the runway is leaving. Hopefully they continue to use the 3d projection technology for the parade pre-show, and I don't just shine lights on it like for the FMR pre-show. Sad to see that Mardi Gras isn't listed under the events or on the calendar. I really enjoyed it the past few years so I hope they decide to bring it back again.

Thanks for the photos and info! What does the text by the arrow pointing to the top of the station say? It looks like some kind of column.

I read on Facebook that "We are excited to present at this year's No Coaster Con. We have a whole bunch of us coming down and we'll have some fun items to raffle off." So what were the fun items the park raffled off? Also, I would think that Thrill Seekers would go where the Mporium used to be.

Also, I have updated the original post with captions for the photos including all the text on the Goliath station photo. I am still working on the Goliath area plan. Unfortunately, even the full size photo is still impossible to read.

Yeah I originally heard Mporium was retheming to Goliath...I think that may have been said at the ground breaking...

I am not at all surprised they are using the IgNight stage again (if they weren't going to use it, it would have been torn down). And Im guessing they will do projections still. Could be a very cool show and parade, excited to see what they do with it.

Hoping for close to a thousand an hour. That'll be interesting to see if they can get there.
Hank wants a dark ride...YES!
No paper coupons, they will be on the season pass. That sounds cool.

1,000 an hour should be easily doable. Of course that doesn't mean it will happen

As for auction items and raffle items

Image
An Iron Wolf bolt and Ragin' Cajun's single rider banner were raffled. 3 of the 4 Goliath ground breaking shovels were auctioned (The park is keeping one).

Concerning the pass processing line now, what will happen to the pass processing center? I think a little museum about the history of SFGAm would be perfect if they could fit it.

I can't imagine that would happen, because there's no money in it for them. That spot was an arcade at one point, maybe they'd go back to that?

^ I actually think it would be very possible because when Brandon worked at Magic Mountain, he was the one who got them to put the museum in their Sky Tower. And even though it wouldn't make the park any money, it wouldn't cost them much either and it would be something people would love.

I wonder if they would put the model of the park from the Marriott days that used to be in Carousel Gifts there.

I'm glad I'm not him!

But back to the matter at hand, turning it into office space would make the most sense, the upper floors are park ops offices, the bottom is set up for administrative use, with all the voice/data that pass processing requires. would be a primo opportunity for them to expand into more space.

Don't get me wrong, I would love it too - but it wouldn't surprise me if maybe the thinking is that they'll pay off the costs of the new equipment for the pass processing by using that space in a way to make them money.

The new equipment is most likely payed off by now. They were installed during the 2013 season and were probably payed for with some of the season pass profits.

Also with the biometric system, does this mean we won't see the perry turnstiles anymore at the front gate. Because if the new machines keep track of the people entering, I really don't see a use for them. But then again, I really don't know how Six Flags entry system works, so I guess we'll eventually find out.

Thats not how businesses work. Assets depreciate over time, most likely 7-10 years.

I do not think the pass processing center is going away. It will be used for guests who want to add dinning option, Parking, or Upgrade to a season pass. Also if you purchase a season pass at the park you still need to process your pass. I believe Hank mis-spoke. All the details are on Six Flags website.
