Goliath Construction update Video (December 2013)

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby raginbullrider on December 11th, 2013, 12:08 am
The Goliath insider contest was recently cancelled but Six Flags was nice enough to give everyone who entered a tour of the construction site at the park yesterday. I put together this video so everyone can see the progress on goliath. I filmed the tour part of this video in HD and figured I would share it here. Hope you guys enjoy! http://youtu.be/04ff3jadq-A

i posted the video both here and in that thread so that users would see it. I figure most people don't regularly read the off topic form and i wanted to share this with everyone. If a moderator wants to move the thread by all means they can.

Mod Note: It's cool to have it's own thread. Thanks for posting this! -Dave

no one really knows. The excuse they gave was that it was underestimated by the Six Flags public relations team that no one would have the availability at a whim to cover a 60 hr a week construction schedule, but I am willing to bet that they were afraid the "Hardcore roller coaster nerds" entering the contest would not be able to represent the brand image well.

could be either reason. the reason they gave is plausible. i tend to agree they didnt like the contestants who were showing themselves as front runners in the competition. and now they wont have an insider which they will have control over and instead people will be watching sfgamworlds videos with scott that they have much less control over

When the park didn't get the entrant that they wanted to win (ie, some cute teenager from a local high school) perhaps they chose to make some excuses and let their professional team market and PR the heck out of a coaster than will receive national attention.

Also there is a good chance that a minority would have been preferred, of which there are basically none of in the coaster hobby, and while I don't waste my time watching videos, I'm going to guess none submitted a video.

Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping

From the getgo I was surprised the park put the 18+ stipulation in place. Considering they would've been doing all of the production work, they just needed to find someone to look good on camera for PR purposes.

Request to lock/delete thread because of redundancy. Can we please post videos like this in the Official Goliath 2014 Thread? We really DO NOT need two separate threads on Goliath.

I happen to agree unfortunately. Please post future videos like this in the Official Goliath 2014 Thread so we can have one thread relating to Goliath.

You should PM a Moderator about locking this thread.

moderators read the threads. If they agree it should be locked they will read this and lock it. If you think a mod should be PMed that is something you can do as well.
And to be clear this could be locked but its not the end of the world if this one isnt locked. Its not too bad, not a troll or anything. It isnt high on the lock priority list. Could be locked if they want.

Request to leave the moderating to the moderators because reading an entire discussion of backseat moderators is far more annoying than this topic's existence.

JimPanky, do you realize that you just agreed with Goliath72165 and DejaVu2001 at the same time? Do you further realize that those two posters are disagreeing with each other?

Funny how many people ignored the very second post about this being okay to have its own thread.
