Indiana Beach Questions

I hope to be able to visit Indiana Beach this summer and after researching, I've come across a few questions.


1. How does admission/ride rates work? I know this is different than Great America as you must pay for every ride. All the roller coasters are $4.00 right? Is there a pass you can get to obtain unlimited rides all day long? (I'm thinking this is the P.O.P pass, but I'm not sure)

2. I'm a little confused on the hour descriptions. For example- (Last years hours as 2004's are not up yet) May 3rd is listed as a 'One Ride Sesson 11-6'. What does this mean? One ride per guest? Sounds a little silly.

3. How long does it take to get from where ever you live (Include location please)

4. Finally, How is their waterpark?

-They have a P.O.P. for up to 2 ride sessions. (usually 11-6 for one or 6-midnight for the 2nd) If you want to ride from 11a.m. to midnight you can buy a combination pass which include both ride sessions and the water park all day, this is the best deal to get if your going to be there all day.

-There are two differenet ride sessions for the P.O.P. as said above.

3. How long does it take to get from where ever you live (Include location please)
-From Oak Lawn it takes me about a hour and a half...more depending on traffic.

4. Finally, How is their waterpark?
Waterpark has about 8 Waterslides and a huge Beach with "Filtered Well Water". It also has a pretty long Lazy River.

So a 20 dollar POP gets you 6 hours of ride time? Does this include all the coasters and flats? (It said some like mini golf were excluded, which makes sense). If you go on a day with 2 ride sessons do you have to pay 4.00 a ride after the 1st expires?

20 Dollars gives you the Water Park and all the rides including the coasters, flats, Lake Schafer Queen. There's a list at Indiana Beach's website that tells you what rides are included. It's actullay more than six hours of ride time depending on the day you go.

No you don't have to pay 4 dollars after the first one expires.

P.S. Indiana Beach is good for two things: Hoosier Hurricane and Cornball Express. The rest of the rides are kinda cheesy compared to SFGA

Your Crazy, IB's has a much better selection of flat rides then Six Flags. You got Big Shot, Chaos, Falling Star, Scrambler "on Steriods", Flying Bobs and the Sea Dragon for thrilling flat rides that run the best programs.

Then for mild rides you have the Swings right over lake shafer, probably the best swings anywhere. And the very fun for all ages Den of Lost Thieves which is a interactive Dark Ride.

If you only go to theme parks for Coasters, then you might not like IB as much since your not riding some of the best rides there. Cornball Express is one of the World's Greatest wooden coasters in my opinion, Hoosier Hurricane is a nice out and back coaster that focus's more on speed then airtime. Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain will throw you around in a fun way. Galaxi is nice little coaster, and Tig'rr is one of the only coasters in America without any restraints whatsoever.

Point is IB has plenty to do in a day, and sometimes I even have a hard time fitting in all the rides since I reride Cornball too much.

Tigg'r scared me so much. <The no restraint thing. HANG ON! But for the coasters the wait times are really not more than 10 min. The kidde coasters have a longer wait but Hoosier Hurrican and Conball have 10min waits. in my opinion its worth it.

Your right coaster dude. It's just that I've been going there year after year since I was 14 and It's really grown on me. Because of that, it's very easy for me to overlook the good things about the park. There is a lot more to do than SFGA. I just like going to the big park and seeing the big rides.(and driving to Illinois)

So in my opinion Indiana Beach is alright I guess. They have my favorite game: Skee Ball!

I have been going there since I was born pretty much, every year me and my family go and its always fun.

Ive been going once a year for past 4+ years, and its a really great park. We usually go in August, and its not that busy. Ive yet to ever have to wait more then one train to get on the coasters, and never had to wait more then a few minutes for the rides. Like said above, the rides are some of the best around, with a great mix. Its a compact park, with a ton of stuff in a small space, buts its still a great looking place.

Cornball express gives some of the best airtime ever, hoosier is fun, others are nice for one or two rides.

Waterpark is good, though unlike the rides, waterpark can get really busy and compact, be there early and stake out a spot on the beach Same with parking, be there early and pay the extra fee to park closer, its only a few bucks and worth it rather then parking farther out!

The free parking is cool because of crossing over the suspension bridge.

While I don't agree that IB has more rides than SFGAm, they definitely have a better selection of flats.

IB feels like a boardwalk park which is definitely a plus.

Their swing ride is awsome it goes right over the water. This is one park that really makes the most of their space

I would really like to visit a boardwalk type park, so this is sounding like quite a park to visit. Indiana is such a diry state though.

Usually their times over lap about 2hrs so one session willl be 11-6 and the second will bee 4 till close and those 2hrs will be the longest lines. Try to avoind coaster then.

From Munster In, it takes me about a hour and a half to get there.

Indiana Beach is an excellent example of a boardwalk park. Yes the state of Indiana may seem dirty, but the area that IB is located in is quite nice! The lake setting is beautiful, and it is different with many summer homes and cottages sitting only just across the lake from the park.

I made my first trip ever (at 21 years old!) last year and it was an absolute blast! Believe what everybody says on here about Cornball Express, it is true. I can honestly say that I have never experienced such wicked airtime on a wooden coaster before. Lost Coaster also made me laugh, it is different than what you expect.

When we (my gf too.) went we only bought a one session ride pass from 11 AM - 6PM and we found that wasn't enough time for everything we wanted to do. I would definately recommend doing both sessions or staying over. Indiana Beach is truely different from SFGAM because it has such a plethora of great rides. Plus the atmosphere of the park is a must. It really feels as if you are attending a county fair of sorts, rather than an actual amusement park!

It was enough to warrant a now yearly trip for us!

Ive been visiting Indiana Beach yearly since I was about 3 months old, even before I was born my parents vacationed there every year. And out of my 20 years of visiting the park each trip is just as good if not better then the last. It's just a awesome park.
