Season Pass Questions

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

My brother and I are going to SFGAm tomorrow, and we also plan on going to SFSL on June 20th, and then again to SFGAm later in the summer. So that means it's time to buy some season passes. However, we've never gotten passes before.

I determined that it would be the best deal money-wise to buy two "Season" passes instead of 1 Season and 1 Gold.
However, when I looked at the pass/ticket page for SFTL, the pricing is significantly cheaper for every form of ticket/pass/parking.

What I want to know is what happens if I purchase passes from the SFSL website but visit SFGAm first? Does that work, or do I have to activate the passes at the park from which they are purchased?

Yeah, you have to process at the park you buy em at before you can use them elsewhere.

Another option, If you're in ACE you can get one free one day ticket for any SF park this year, can use that at SFGAm. http://www.aceonline.org/fliers/SixFlagsCoupon2013.pdf

Remember too though that things like coupon books and parking passes are only good for the park you buy your pass at, so even though you'd have to pay slightly more for the pass you'd save more in the park with a Great America pass.

The main purpose of a gold pass is to get the parking for "free" as many times as you go there. Parking is $22. So, you look at both passes (regular) & gold, and see the difference is about $77. So, if you go to SFGAm & park there (as opposed to taking a bus or being dropped off), at least 4 times it's worth it. You are going SFStL a day or 2, so you would include that parking in there too because the gold pass allows for "free" parking for any Six Flags. Though the parking at SFStL might be a tiny bit cheaper.

What I find really interesting is that Six Flags on their website sells just a parking pass for $75. I guess they think that a bring a friend for free & early entry to waterpark is worth an extra $2 with the gold pass.

I just got 2 regular passes and we'll just pay for parking each time. What we should have done was save the first SFGAm trip for AFTER the SFSL trip so that we could process our passes in St. Louis, but oh well.

And any tips on processing the pass tomorrow? Should we just head over straight away after opening? I've heard the line can be long...?

^ The line is horrible on opening day, but should be fine now. Probably a better use of your time to get a few rides in first before the crowds come in and then go process it in the afternoon.

That's kinda funny, I didn't realize before that paying one pass plus a parking pass comes out to a little more than one gold pass. I guess they plan to make the money off of getting whole families to all buy gold passes, instead of just season passes for everyone and then one parking pass.

Pass processing (and the busy rides) is best to hit right at park open. Even on slow days it can get quite long midday.

Dumb question here. The ticket site says hurry, prices end June 9. Anyone know what the prices are going to be for the Gold membership after June 9th?
Candy: What you lookin' at?
Otis B. Driftwood: I'm lookin' at you, mama.
Candy: Yeah, you see something you like?
Otis B. Driftwood: Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed.
