Six Flags Great America opens for the 2013 season on Saturda

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

The Mayans were right the world must be ending because I actually agree with BobO.

This has nothing to do with anything other than saving on a half hour of operations while charging the same thing. They just upped their profit by a significant amount over the course of a year by doing so. I a, very disappointed with the decision, especially after making two great decisions last year by rolling out xflight and the dining plan.

As long as they continue to make significant investments in additions for every park, spend more on special events (Fright Fest, Mardi Gras), and keep up the general park improvements we've seen over the last few seasons (Better Merch, better shows, food pass, gold pass, twitter hunts) I'm ok with losing a half hour of my day, because even though I'm getting a little less time, I feel like I'm getting more for my money and a better park experience then I did a few years ago. If the park and chain start slipping backwards again, then I'll have a big problem with it.

Bob O wrote:I see no reason at all that this will cause people to stay at the park longer!!!! It just screw's people out of a 1/2 hour of park time. This will cause me to spend less time in the park and because I am unhappy with there awful decision to reduce park hours to spend no money in the park in my form of protest. They did get my season pass money, but there is little reason to give them anymore till they start putting there guests first!!

I will speak for Six Flags here - They won't care about your "protest." You already gave them money even though you are "protesting."

As for the AK comparsion, very few people buy a single park day pass, they would be far more likely to buy a park hopper pass and when they were done got to a park like EDCOT etc which is open longer ro end there day.

Except the fact a majority of people staying off site don't. They buy their 1-5 day ticket (no park hopper,) enjoy their day and they go out to a restaurant for dinner. When folks do park hop, it tends to be morning at once place and afternoon/night at other; not the "park has closed, lets spend 2 hours at EPCOT" mindset.
