Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

What is the average attendance of a summer day at Great America? I am just wondering.

No Season Pass! If you Purchase a Regular 1 Day ticket, you will get screwed and have to then buy the $35 Event Ticket! So if you are gonna buy a 1 day ticket... Ask for the "Out in the Park" ticket, Not a 1 day ticket... Coca Cola is very strict on which ticket is purchased because most of the Proceeds are benefiting local Groups.

Well I will be there maybe during the normal park hours. I have a pass but not going to pay 35 to stay later. I do hope they allow us to just stay in the park if we want. I dont care about going on rides, the atmosphere will just be cool to be in.

It works for me not paying the extra $35, as I cannot handle "club music" after about 30 seconds. But I know plenty of folks love it, so I'm sure it will be a good time. But be warned - there is a forecast for rain after 9pm.

Look forward to tomorrow, can't wait to get on Demon and Whizzer! I'm having withdrawals.

I hope it's a good time for those that go - I look forward to the trip reports. I wonder what rides will be open? Will American Eagle be a racing coaster that night?

I kinda sorta wish they would call it something other than gay day. Maybe a little more inclusive title to include everyone, and friends of everyone. But it's progress, a good thing.

I hope it turns out to be a great day! With the end of the season rolling around, this is one of our few last days to visit the park. I've been with out coasters for 2 weeks now and I can feel it!

I'm going tomorrow afternoon til close solo maybe we can meet up?

@GayCoasterGuy

I was the first one to answer the full question on their facebook page correctly. I wish I won a prize. lol

Flashback Friday: Can you guess the name of this ride when it opened in 1976?

Willard's Whizzer

also...I completely agree with only being able to handle techno for so long. I wish they had a bar area where they played Zep, Stones, Tool, Bowie, Guns N Roses, ect...

I'd be there.

^Ask them "whats my prize?"

Yeah, I would really prefer some sort of music "mix." The circuit music thing is a part of the culture I can do with out. It represents a very small segment of our community. But I think that sort of "noise" is popular across the board these days.

Today is the day... If anyone is still interested to come over 35$ ticket are still on sale. They include parking and regular hours of the park 10am till 9pm. So for 35$ you get free parking and 15 hours of the park, with 4 being no lines.

Sounds like even though the rain came in for an hour, it still turned out pretty good. I am straight, and I still would have dropped the 35 bucks to ride coasters until 1am.

I can't think of another time SFGAm stayed open until 1am. General or private event.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Last Saturday before closing for Fright Fest last year they were open from 9 - 1 for a College that bought the park as a "Back to School" party thing.

I'm glad the rain stopped and they kept everything ready to go back up, sounds like it turned out to be a good time.

Me and my buddy left the park at closing after 2 GREAT rides on Whizzer (when aren't they GREAT?) It started raining just a few minutes after 9pm. We went to eat at "Five Guys" for all the raves it gets, we didn't think it was very good. Wendy's or McDonald's would have been better.

We got to the park around 4pm - was surprised how busy the park was. I used my Six Flags Season Pass "Flash Drive" for ride pictures, got home to discover they gave me a wrong picture on one of the pictures, again. Seems Whizzer has a new procedure for loading. The ride ops have to watch you "tug/pull on" the seat belt. Perhaps it's been that way for years but they settled with a spot check?

I'm sure the park made a "killing" on this event. I'd be up for it next year if the forecast is better - it would be nice to have some sort of small discount for Season Pass holders, for tix in advance or something. Do they ever do that?

They plan to do the same thing for next year as well... So SF Gay Day won't be in June anymore instead it will be September, and closed event like this. They already learned their mistakes from yesterday (like bus issue) and the hosts of the event plan to make it better for next year. So I am looking forward.

I had a great time. Waited out the rain inside the bat cave and within 45 minutes I was re riding the first row 3 times, and then I hit the back row once. After that I was so surprised to see how dead that side of the park was, V2 was a walk on, basically the only time it's worth the wait. Ended up riding Raging Bull 3 times, Viper 2 times, Superman 2 times, American Eagle once, and X-Flight 4 times after that. Was great night, and was totally awesome wandering the park after midnight with it feeling like a ghost town at points. Well worth the $35 in my opinion, and I am a season pass holder. I think it's great that Six Flags has an event like this, and can't wait to go again next year!

This policy went into effect in late July of this year. One of the many overly paranoid new policies I find to be absurdly unnecessary.

Didn't they put seatbelts on Columbia carousel and then eventually removed them? That would be the king of absurd.
