today our family went to six flags we had bought our 2013 season passes and we mentioned something about next year for the season dining pass if they will have it...they answered to that saying you need to buy them next year..so im guessing its a go for next season..I dont no if its a 100% chance but according to the lady we were talking to she said they would have them next year
I did the season dining pass this year, and my only complaint is, that it would be great to have something in the plan that is not a full meal. And by not a full meal, I mean funnel cake, or pretzel, ice cream or some other snack. I often found myself only eating one meal each trip (Lunch), and was not quite hungry enough for another meal (Dinner), so I ended up tossing away vouchers. I understand that these snack items are where the park generates a ton of money, but, lets face it the ingredients and labor involved in making a funnel cake do not equal $10. I would even pay more than the $59.99 price for this option (especially if I upgrade to gold pass for next year and don't have to pay for the parking pass).
I don't think everyone knows if they will offer the dining pass next year. One person says they will have it next year, another person isn't sure...but I'm sure they will have the pass. I am curious though, how much was a season dining pass for this year? I wonder if its even worth buying if I only go like 2-3 times a year.
^In 2012, the Season Dining Pass was $59.99. An average meal for one person is $15.00, so if you had 2 meals per visit, you would break even after the second visit.
I asked about this two weeks ago and they said that they were going to do it however expect a hefty price increase... makes sense I made a killing on this deal this year.

I have to agree. I think the park didn't realize how much they would loose with this deal. It was a trial run this year and will need to charge at least double for 2013 and with that they will still lose money, and/or limit how many meal vouchers you get in the season.
Well in that case why don't they just get rid of most if not all of the season dining passes all together? I mean, I love the idea of a ticket and meal package, dont get rid of those...just get rid of the actual season dinging passes then if the park is losing a lot of money on it then.

yes that what I was thinking just the season meal pass. I don't know how much there losing but say a person goes 15-20 times a season and the meal cost SF $5 in food that's $10 for two meals per visit that's $150 - $200 minus the $70 = $90 - $140 in lost revenue per person.
That's not including the $10 profit per meal they will make if you bought it full price

We bought it and used it everytime we went. 21 times so far. The food has been mostly good. But you do figure out where the good food is and where the crap stuff is.
For instace, Luigi's Pasta House has the pizza ovens so the pizza you get there is fresh and good. All other places get it there and quite honestly is rubbery.
The warps at Cyber Cafe are solid and the best is the TRurkey leg platter at JB's Bar-B-Q or Andre's Corn Dogs (at least for me).
At 21 visits so far this season, 2 meals a pop for the 3 of us = 1.42 a meal. Not too shabby.
^ There is no Luigi's Pasta House. I assume you mean Angelo's Pasta & Pizza in Yankee Harbor (Pizza Luigi is in County Fair by American Eagle). I always get my Pizza at Angelo's because it is the only place that Cheesebread comes with it. The other places have a Pizza and Fries combo, fries with pizza, WTF.
Now, I am really curious and pardon me for going slightly off-topic here but how is the mooseburger lodge? The name of that restaurant definitely makes my mouth water. Also I am an avid fan of burgers! Does the season dining pass work for that restaurant? Or any restaurants in general? I know it doesn't work for things like funnel cakes and nuts and side stuff like that.
You really do learn quickly where the better food is. The restaurants in Hurricane Harbor, I had good luck with. Food was hot, and fresh. Mooseburger was ...ok. Mooseburger had pretty much the same options that you could find at many of the other places (Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Pulled pork, Brisket). They did have a chicken ceaser salad, but it was 98.7% lettuce, 1% cold chicken, and .3 % cold taco shell. I would much rather walk across the way, and go to Ma and Pa's fora BBQ Turkey Leg.

We always eat at Mooseburger. The brisket is really good as long as it's hot and they have the pickles, tomatoes, onions for you burger, The food just tastes good and you get a decent amount for your money. The show there is kind of hokey, not very exciting. I still miss the Crazy Buffolo Saloon buffet that was in Southwest. That place was great.
Candy: What you lookin' at? Otis B. Driftwood: I'm lookin' at you, mama. Candy: Yeah, you see something you like? Otis B. Driftwood: Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed.
I see a lot of people saying that they must have lost money on this dining pass. I say nay. Although if you just look at rough numbers in the food cost, yes. I am sure it was a sharp change in profit from years past. I can say this though, I had the food pass and have gone around 10 times this year. I live in Rockford so its kind of a haul. I would not have gone more than 3 times at most without knowing I didn't have to buy food. Years ago we brought our own food and did a tailgate lunch, as many still do. I have bad feet and the older I get the less I cared for that long walk out into the parking lot to save $20. So as of a couple years ago, I just took the hit and bought the food in the park.
I have 2 little kids and brought them 2 times each, and once together. I would have just brought them once together with food costs. I found myself always overspending when I'm there with the kids. Special trip, making memories, blah blah blah. I can't be the only one finding themselves going more often because they don't have to pay for food, and spending their money on other things. Though this may apply less the closer people live to the park. I'm sure people going 30 times have enough shot glasses and on ride photos by the 2nd or 3rd trip.
I feel if they raise the price, though it may be in part to the hit on raw materials, it could be equally attributed to the fact that it sold so well. I saw those things everywhere. If so many people purchased it, they must see an opportunity for a price increase, or teared design like the Flash Pass.
I think a gold mine for them would be a season Flash Pass. Make it only redeemable once a week, or even once a week but you have to reserve it online X amount of days in advance. Doing that they could "overbook" the system in terms of total season flash passes sold. I know they have a punch card, but I relish the thought of just paying once and then going with just gas money in my pocket. I would gladly pay 1K for that.

I probably went about 15 times this year and used it every time I went. The food was hit and miss, but once you found where to avoid it was great. As previously stated, Angelos was excellent and offered huge portions which tapered off over the course of the year. The cyber cafe had some poor choices and was overall disappointing. I did enjoy almost everything in the county fair food court. Mooseburger was also ok. I never went to Ma and Pas so I cant say if it was either good or bad. Overall, it was a great experience and I feel as I though I got way more than what I paid for.

Oh! They have a show at Mooseburger lodge?? Now I am very curious what that is about.
I tried Mooseburger, Angelo's and a couple pizza stops. I would like to try some of the "better" places (which ones are better?) before I decide whether or not to get a dining pass for next year.

What did you think of Mooseburger Lodge? I really wanna try that place.
^^Mooseburger was good for years. This year (coincidentally the trial year for the dining pass) the food just doesn't seem as good.
I'm leaning towards not getting the dining pass again. I've used it probably 15 times this year. I think all but twice I had to wait in very long and slow lines; the kitchens/serving lines seemed to be seriously understaffed. To the point where my food (especially the fries) were often cold by the time I sat down to eat. 3 times stuff was out of stock (salad/pepperoni pizza, etc.)... It surely seems like a value in print, but it comes down to what you value. The trade off (for me) for this seemingly good deal was time waiting in line and quality of food. I had a chicken wrap with 2 tiny pieces of chicken and wilted lettuce once.
I waited 35 minutes at Angelo's in July, to be told (after said 35 minute wait) that it would be another 8 minutes for pasta. There are 3 registers there (there used to be 4 or 5) and only one was in use. This was in July when the park was open until 10pm. I understand it's difficult to run a park and keep stuff adequately staffed... yadda yadda yadda - I would much rather leave the park and drive to the mall or somewhere else close by. The food will be better, hotter and I'll get it faster. But of course, perhaps I just happened to have 13 really lousy experiences.
Now that I think about is some more... those (approx) 15 meals I had at the park would cost roughly (at $8 each - which is about what it costs to go to the mall, Chipolte, etc.) $120. That's not that much more over a few summers visits to me. In terms of service and quality, its much more of a deal for me to simply leave the park for food.
Unless I go to the park for Fright Fest and find some REALLY GOOD food that I missed so far... No way I would get the dining pass again. Is it valid during Fright Fest?
