yeah, the park is often open a day or 2 in Nov when halloween falls on a fri or sat, the park will remain open for the entire weekend. In 2002, well after halloween they opened for a weekend where they did not advertise it at all. Parking, admission, food, merch, games, everything was half price, and other than the fact the weather barely went above freezing the entire weekend, good times were had by all except for the park of course since they never topped 1000 people either day, employees vastly outnumbered guests.
November 2nd, 2003. Lol, I found my TR from that day!
Now if I recall, they did a Last Blast in 2002, as well as in 2003. In 02, I was a senior in high school, and my parents wouldn't let me go. In 03, I was in Tech School, and that was the time I lost my keys there! I don't believe they did another Last Blast after that year.
^ Let's review this one more time. There was only one Last Blast, and that was November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2002. In 2003, closing weekend was October 31st, November 1st, and 2nd. All 3 days in 2003 were part of Fright Fest. There was no Last Blast.
Actually there was no last blast in 2003, the park was open on Halloween which was friday, then Sat Nov 1 and Sun Nov 2, don't remember though if they did any pricing deals for that weekend other than of course the usual packaged food (candy mostly)
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
Ahh, yes. It is coming back to me now. I do believe that they had some pricing deals in 03 as well, although it may not have technically been a "Last Blast". My sincere apologies DejaVu2001, I somehow missed your post on the top of the last page. A decade ago already, I can't even remember what I rode that last time I was at the park this year!
I really hope this year's Frightfest is better than ever, well at least better from the previous years. Last FF I attended was in 2010 and that was alright. It gets crowded though towards the end of October so the longer you wait...yeah....you get it. I am glad they also need 250 people to work FF, it means more scares and more thrills, was kinda disappointed that some areas were low with scare actors and other areas had no scare actors at all. I wonder though if only some areas are allowed or supposed to have scare actors. idk. Wicked Woods sounds pretty cool, but then again thats just a name, for all we know it can be something not so scary. I am also very curious how the haunted train attraction is going to work, I always thought the train railway closed around labor day or something.
Is that little haunted insane asylum thing coming back? Where was that again? I remember some guy standing there inviting us to go in. It was rather creepy but short and quick. Also I really really wanna one of the haunted houses for once, but I am concerned that the scare factor rating is low. Like I think I would get more scare out of haunted house thats not part of SFGAm, like statesville haunted prison or the dungeon of doom etc you get what I mean. I know its extra for the haunted houses. Its cheaper during the day, like it was about $7 to do during the day.
I hope they do that cool drop pattern at giant drop. Where each cart goes down one by one instead of everyone at once. Is TT2 being revamped? Also I really really really hope Necropolis gets improved. I've gone through that trail and I pretty much know it like the back of my hand, and the scare actors hide in the same spot and that spraying water port-a-potty is always there.
I am extremely excited to go to FF this year!!! I have not been since 2010 so I am extremely antsy to go. I seriously cant wait!! I'ts the only reason I came back to SFGAmworld.com!! I have missed too much.
I think he was referring to the asylum for the insane in Necropolis, which did not come back in 2011. All the props from it where still set up, but you just looked at them through a winder rather than going through the picnic shelter.
I wonder though if only some areas are allowed or supposed to have scare actors.
Scare actors are only allowed within the scare zones, and not even the whole scare zone. The 2011 FF map showed where the actors are allowed to go, and they didn't have a ton of space to work with. I don't know how strictly this was enforced, but it would be nice to see the areas expanded so they can really chase some people down. But areas that aren't specified scare zones won't have scare actors in them, unless the park brings in some roaming hoards, which would be awesome. Chainsaw guys anyone?

The Pr people said they would announce the new stuff Aug 30, and than they said Fright Fest they would announce Sept 1st. It's at 5 min 25 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlPCXakspjs

They were talking about the new re themed ride, so stuff like the scare zones might not be announced until September 8. They're already promoting the new stuff in the park though, so who knows. Maybe the September 8th date was referring more to the other parks since Great America likes to take it's time to hype and promote stuff more than the other parks.

I remember this day, i heard about it on the radio, they advertised it on the radio like the DAY before... We went, it was super cold, but well worth it! Everything was Half Price, the Lines were Extremely Short. Road Raging Bull 6 Times in a row and they didn't even make me get out of my seat!!! It rocked
I have a feeling that if you go October 25th this year, it will be like that day. Sure, stuff won't be half price, but for 4 hours, they have to be kidding me. Fridays for Fright Fest are at least 6 hours, and on a Friday. The only people that would probably go on Thursday Oct 25th would probably live right by the park, and have season passes. Why not at least 5 pm instead of 6 pm?

haha I didn't mean like vampires if thats what your thinking lmao...but in other words I was curious if TT2 was being improved or changed? Is some of the music staying the same or is it all a brand new mix? New light show and new mannequins? I am curious whats going to happen.
Also in my previous posts, YES I was reffering to the aslylum for the insane...I saw it at my last trip to FF which was back in 2010 so explains why I was questioning about it. I hope this year we can go inside it, it would be awesome, at least it would be something extra to make Necropolis a bit more fun and interesting and above all else, longer! lmao
It would also really be awesome if the scare actors got to go to more spots around the park. I understand certain reasons for having designated scare zones could be reasons like: keeping certain areas safe so people who are scared easy can relax also keep the kids areas safe from scare actors, also I think they would have to hire even more scare actors if they expanded the designated scare zones which I'm not sure if the park could afford to pay more people and stuff. Id rather have small areas with lots of scare actors, rather than large areas with little scare actors like a scare actor every 50 feet or something. Well lets see what it will be like this year.
Finally, am I hearing that the park will be open the 25th of october? Im assuming the park is supposed to be closed that day?? Also will the park be open on or after Halloween or Im assuming that the park last day for the season will be the 28th, which is a sunday. Im assuming the park always closes for the season, the sunday before Halloween. Any clues or information if the park will be open on a day that is not advertised will be highly appreciated!!!

I love your enthusiasm bud - but you know I can't give any key information about it at all... That being said, I will say it will be the best year for the ride (in my opinion). Reasons? Well, you'll just have to take my word for it.
I love how the Demon once had no painted imaged of the demon behind the sewer bars on the front train, due to overly conservative people claiming it was too demonic (kind of the point..), and now Six Flags can get away with having "666" on stuff. It's good to see the times change and that Six Flags PR isn't so scared to have some fun.
Is Massacre Medical Center up already?? If so that was fast! I would think that the park wouldn't set that up until after Labor day when the park is closed pretty much almost the rest of the month of september. Idk if its just me but this year's FF I feel like it won't top the last season I went to FF which was in 2010. I'm going anyway this year.
Also, I am glad too the park isn't staying conservative and not taking risks in terms of Halloween decor. I love the 666 and Demon satanic image. The park would definitely fail in October if it didn't take such risks and fun! I know I would think FF is lame is it didn't go above and beyond with the decor.
And I just checked frightfest.sixflags.com and no announcements will be made until September 8th (Next Saturday!! )

How would more actors, more houses and more haunted attractions not top 2010? I thought last years was so much better than 2010, and I'm sure this years will be better again. But really even if they changed nothing it would still be better than 2010s event which I was very unimpressed with.

Eh, its all a matter of personal opinion. I never went in 2011 so idk how that year was like. I guess Im going into FF with high expectations I guess. I forget Six Flags doesn't go above and beyond with their scare ratings. I'm sure it will good, I just won't expect too much and hopefully be impressed. Once I see the announcement on Sept 8th then maybe I can make a pre-judgement.
Theres a haunted house I am going to at the end of the month and looking at their schedule kind of made me curious about the schedule for FF this year. THe haunted house opens the last week in September, I believe the last few days or so, and after looking at SFGAm's operating schedule, I saw the park will be open the 29th and 30th of september. Will Fright Fest be taking place the last weekend in sept or is that just a coincidence that the park is open that weekend? Or will the first day of Frightfest be Oct 5th which is the first day the park opens in October?

Fright Fest 2012 opens to the public on September 29th.
