^With the possible exception of Labor Day Weekend they usually aren't too bad. Everything is probably going to be under a half hour wait

Going back to Read To Succeed, this past Sunday was the busiest day of the season with traffic backed up for miles on 94 and the parking lot nearly filled.

When the parking lot looks like that, attendance is around 40,000. To give an idea of how busy that is, a normal day is 20,000, and 30,000 is when it starts to feel way too packed.

How bad was it Monday, or if anyone is going today?

Does anyone think that tomorrow (Wednesday) will draw in bigger crowds considering that it is supposed to be cooler? A couple of friends and I are going tomorrow and plan on getting there at 12:30 to 1:00. We will be staying until closing though, so when do you think crowds will begin to thin out?

^I would say the general rule of thumb is that after the waterpark people leave it, they usually pile in the regular park. Some strange occurrences happen though when the waterpark is open later such as being extended to 7pm. I think for a time like that people leave the waterpark, go out to eat, and come back.

To me, the lines always seem lesser when the waterpark is filling up with more people. I'm never talking empty for regular park lines though especially for the bigger attractions. Though, some people are always going to just stay in the regular park and that's it. Not everyone goes in the waterpark, and what I notice is that most of the time, the waterpark doesn't even reach half of the capacity it has (Remember, they increased the capacity of the waterpark because of the newer attractions). And I would think it's still going to be crowded this week because yes they still have Read to Succeed going on, but in general it's the last weeks of kids being off, so the kids want to get to these places as much as possible. I say your least amount of wait based on the time you are coming is around 8:30pm - till the end.

The way I figure that if you are going to SFGAm during late July or early August, just expect a lot of people because otherwise you might be really disappointed that it is so packed.

About the cooler temperatures in theory, I would expect the regular park to more crowded because less people would be in the waterpark. However, something like that happened earlier in the year, and people said the park wasn't that crowded. I guess people didn't want to go because the waterpark SFGAm advertises wouldn't be worth going because of the cooler temperatures. Again, I said that the waterpark usually doesn't reach half of it's capacity, but you have to remember that thousands of people are still thousands of people in the waterpark, and NOT in the regular park. That was the beginning of the year though. This again August in which people are coming in the droves. Look at that picture from Sunday.

Also, I would expect American Eagle to be more packed that it was before because now they are advertising about it, and that's sure to get people on it more.

^I'm guessing that the possibility of rain and thunderstorms scared away some people for today. People might leave early if a thunderstorm rolls in around 5 or 6, and then the park will be great!

Monday was a bit packed. Not sure if the back lot ever opened though. It was busy enough to make most of the lines close to an hour for the big stuff.

^It's like that every year on the last couple of days that you can get in free with the "Read to Succeed" program. Parents procrastinate on it.

It is really nice to see our park that busy. I don't think I have seen Great America that busy in a long time. I would never want to go into the park if it was that busy.

hope it won't be crazy busy Saturday.. this is the weekend we go every year and normally the waits for most rides are under 45 minutes so I hope that will be the case Saturday. . might go in May next year for my daughters 10th birthday and i'm guessing for mid may it will be pretty dead. I usually never go when the waterpark is open just because of the crowds then.

I was there on labor day and it was not busy and the water park had less people than I wound think I was looking on top of bull even though it was pretty hot today. I got there 10AM and left 2pm. It will differently get busy during fright fest but next Saturday is gay day so it might get busy but they have a special event after the park closes 9pm to 1am so many probably won't be there until later in the evening.

30 min wait for season pass processing everyone getting the gold pass
