New stuff is great, but bringing back old stuff (*retro*) is sometimes just as good. Those trolls were very popular.

How about the werewolves on bouncing stilts? Will they come back or is that a no-go after the accident one had a couple years ago?

For it to come back now wouldn't be retro... If it were to come back now, it would be kinda tacky. It's only been what? 2 years?

Chubasco in the dark is the extent of Fright Fest that I care about. Well, that and the 11 pm closing time on Fridays. After that, as long as we're not having an Indian Summer and there is some awesome brisk October weather, I'm completely satisfied. I couldn't care less if there was 1 costumed character or 1,000 costumed characters.

Bonus points if the park stays open for the first weekend of November (Last Blast) with minimal advertising as they did a few years ago. Looking back, that bonus day of operation on Sunday would probably rank as the best time I've had at the park. The mini-marathon my friends and I enjoyed in the cold, dark, and nearly snowy weather (IIRC) right around closing time was something that I can't see myself ever forgetting. It was perfect.

Believe it or not that last blast weekend was either 11 or 12 years ago now being 2001 or 2002.

Looks to me like:

- Scare zones/mazes in Roaring Rapids and Hurricane Harbor as said at NCC
- A new meet and greet or band in the Hometown Square pavilion
- Something where Iron Wolf was
- Something on the path underneath Demon or that general area, possibly the return of Southwest Scare-tory in that part of SWT

in my opinion I hope it's the return of the Scooby Doo train ride they do for Fright Fest. I doubt it'll happen, but I loved that ride and it was fun to watch (and you didn't have to wait 2 hours for it like some other rides) but these just look like new mazes I guess. Or maybe they plan on dying Roaring Rapids with red water and operating it :)

^I hope/wish that they will dye the water red for Roaring Rapids again. I remember they also filled a couple of seats on each raft with skeletons which made the ride interesting if you sat next to one of them.

I really believe this is the comeback of the fright fest themed train... I mean look at all of the locations...
#1 Hometown station (maybe bridge area)
#2 Rapids area (there is open space on both sides of the train over there)
#3 Iron wolf/county fair station
#4 Tunnel (next to Demon's)
#5 Area behind the Pictorium (remember the 'Hold-up Express' from a couple of years ago? This is where all of the action took place, the grassy area between HTFM and the Pictorium.)

All of these highlited areas are along the train route and mostly out of the view of non-riding guests.

They wouldn't have highlighted the whole of the rapids if it was just for the train and the area by Viper is in Hurricane Harbor, not between HTFM and the Pictorium. While the train may be part of it, it's not the only new thing being shown here.

Wow, now that you've mentioned that I realized it. That was probably the last season that I visited the park more than twice a year. What a day that was, I was probably still beaming 2 days after that. I wish I could recapture 1/2 of the enthusiasm I had that day.

Yeah that was a good weekend, under 1000 people each day, everything was a complete walk on and all food was half price resulting in me actually eating at the park and only having it be slightly overpriced :)

On top of that Deja Vu was running pretty well despite temperatures supporting ice in Columbia's pond.

And I could have tried 2005, but i'd have been met with locked gates, it was in fact 2002.

Yea the picture is for themed rides/shows/haunted houses that will be there for fright fest. Why? I don't think I have to say much you can see the fright fest logo right there.

Someone in the comments for that picture said "Hopefully a coaster taller than raging bull..."

Oh the GP....
Xlight total rides:
50 times and in every row except front row left wing.

Wicked Woods in Mardis Gras is new this year, as well as Deadline, a haunted train attraction. Mausoleum of Terror in Necropolis, Manslaughter Manor in Southwest Territory and Massacre Medical Center in County Fair will be back, although two of the returning attractions are being revamped, Jones said.

Wicked Woods will probably be a walkthrough in/around Rapids. Manslaughter Manor sounds like another new Haunted House in the Southwest Arcade.

I hope Studio 13 leaving means an end to Tinsletown Terror as a whole.

I agree. Tinseltown Terror didn't exactly work these past few years. It was a nice try though...

Tinseltown Terror never worked. It was GREAT IDEA. And I loved Studio 13 during it's first year, but from then on it really did nothing for me.

I never understood why Six Flags as a whole didn't partner with Warner Brothers to have them sponsor a haunted house based on an upcoming, or recent Warner Bros. Horror Flick. Next year, for example, Warner Bros. is planning to release a sequel to Dawn of the Dead around the Halloween Season. So how great would it be if there was a Dawn of the Dead themed Haunted House at Select Six Flags parks across the country (Perhaps Great America, Great Adventure, New England, Over Texas, and Magic Mountain, That what I would want as an advertiser. Perhaps add in Fiesta, St. Louis, and Discovery Kingdom). Market the Movie and the Theme park at the same time. The Power of Synergy, my friends.

Not to add to the bickery, but I remember my senior year in High School working a fundraiser at the park on the final day of operation the day before my birthday...November 2nd, 2003. I remember vividly due to cutting my wrist cleaning out at deep fryer at Aunt Martha's and having to fill out a multitude of forms for an injury report.
Missing Shockwave more and more every day.
