This is great news! Cedar Point really needed another B&M coaster and this will be a perfect addition. I hope they theme it well but since it's CF, well... you know. Regardless, I'm hoping to go back next year and I'm looking forward to riding it. Farewell to Disaster Transport though. I know some people found it boring but I personally enjoyed it.
Top 3 Steel Coasters: 1. The Incredible Hulk 2. Maverick 3. Dragon Challenge (Fireball)
Top 3 Wood Coasters: 1. The Beast 2. American Eagle (Red) 3. Hades
I can't believe this guy was a former Disney guy. Taking away 4 family attractions in 2 years - Disaster Transport, that boat ride (Jungle Cruise copy), Wildcat, and the Sky Trek Tower like ride. Why doesn't he take away Mean Streak instead for this Wing Coaster? It doesn't bother me that he would get rid of Disaster Transport because it's lower capacity & the theme, but the thing is that this is a family ride, and a Wing Coaster is not a family ride. He's taking out a family ride (more than one), and replacing it with an older audience thrill ride.
Even though I like both parks: Cedar Point & Magic Mountain, Cedar Point seems to cater to the entire family rather than just the thrillseekers. That's why they have coasters like the Mine Ride, Disaster Transport, they had Wildcat, Iron Dragon, Blue Streak, Gemini and Corkscrew. They also have a ton of flat rides. Very puzzling to me to tell you the truth.

^Minus the board ride, which I agree on, everything else has something similar to it. Ferris wheel and tall coasters give you the view you can get on the space spiral. The two coasters are family style, but the park has the mine train and Gemini for that crowd.
A very ... *in the line* addition to Cedar Point's mediocre coaster collection. I think it will fit just fine. (Trying to be nice... but really *yawn!*).
With all the hype the park gets, I would think they would want to add something REALLY great... you know, just ONE *really great* coaster. Something that will be legend... kinda like Magnum was, Beast was to King's Island... Think tunnels, trenches... fly-by's whatever... something world class.
At an ACE coaster con sometime in the late 80s/early 90s, a Cedar Point representative replied that "Cedar Point is NOT into *gimmick* rides" when someone asked if they could run one side of Gemini backwards. I guess putting in a B&M wing rider, they are now *into* gimmicks.
Does anyone think X-Flight will be popular in 5 years? I could be dead wrong... people do like it, but when questioned one-on-one it's more "eehhh... it's fun."

I think for me, it's a fun ride, but for me, the g's aren't what makes that ride awesome, it for me at least - is most definitely the themeing and near misses.
Hell, for Ninja in Six Flags St. Louis, the head-chopper was the BEST part.
I don't think that X Flight will ever be a 5 hour wait, but it will do awesome to get people moving through the line and be happy.
Hell, it's a different enough ride that it will be some's favorite ride, and for others just a good roller coaster ride.
I'm a fan, so any roller coaster if fun is a good one for me.
& this is all based off an email... I got way too into the Chang BS rumors, so Im gonna care about this topic when its an official announcement....IF it ever is.
^Chang coming to SFGAm I don't consider a rumor. That was absolutely coming to SFGAm (They even had a meeting with Gurnee about it.), but since Mark Shapiro got canned, the new CEO guy changed his mind knowing that Chang coming to SFGAm was dumb because of Iron Wolf having the same seating, and people not liking that ride, so thus he sent it elsewhere. We got extra water additions because it was last minute. It doesn't take that long to make waterpark slides compared to building a roller coaster. However even with Chang, they were going to completely get rid of Space Shuttle America building, and move the Go-Karts, so they knew they were doing that either way.
This new guy has still made dumb decisions such as sending a mouse coaster to New England (even though they already have one) when Georgia or the Great Escape don't have one. Sending Iron Wolf to another park to me is a dumb decision also.

And those are just rides installed within 2-3 years. You could include more actually.
I think the thing is, is that amusement parks copy off of each other all the time. You take for instance something like Batman, and that ride was really, really unique and innovative at the time. I don't know why a park wouldn't want to try and get one of those types of rides. Some of this stuff conflicts with Cedar Point's main competition at the time - that being Paramount's Kings Island. The Max Air ride was first at Kings Island called Delirium. Kings Island has been known for their better kiddie area which again was ONCE in direct competition with Kings Island. Kings Island also has a drop tower. Drop Towers were once the new hot thing, and every park had to get them, and most of the parks got them around the same time.

I can't really be excited for the Wing Rider coming to Cedar Point. Their 2 other B&M's are crap, so they better make this one awesome (adding different, unique elements and what not). I'm also not a fan of it being placed at the front of the park right over the entrance. Cedar Point still manages to have a calm entrance with nice buildings and what not, but Knott's decided to ruin their by building Silver Bullet right up against the entrance.
So now we have some questions to answer. Colors? Drop? Theme? I really hope this ride isn't the green track spotted at the B&M plant. Green to me is Raptor's color and having another coaster like that seems a bit out of place.

That coaster has been heading to Ocean Kingdom in China.

Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster are mediocre to you? I get that Dragster is tall but also a short ride, but if you don't consider Millennium Force *really great*, I don't think anything is capable of impressing you.
jeffrey wrote:Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster are mediocre to you?
Yes, those are mediocre rides in my opinion. I find some coasters to look very impressive (X-Flight for example), but the ride experience I find to be mediocre.
jeffrey wrote:but if you don't consider Millennium Force *really great*, I don't think anything is capable of impressing you.
Actually Jeffrey, there are many coasters, rides, and park experiences that very much impress me, and I consider to be "really great." But the coasters we are talking about, other than looks-wise, do not impress me. I do enjoy riding MForce and TTDragster. I put them in the category "loud bark, tiny bite."
Your opinions are important and valid - however, we can differ in our personal opinions I promise you, it's really ok "It's all good"

That's true about Chang...it was here & I watched the vid posted on the meeting, saw the plans etc. I think it would have made a nice addition but it makes me wonder if that happened, would Xflight come here?? I understand the layout is specified to that area of OUR park but I mean the consideration of installing one at all.... then again B&M were at the park in 2011 looking at the area so it could have been the company had both installations planned. Idk
As for the waterpark expansion, I have a good feeling that WAS "Bonsai Beach" at SFKK but obviously we saw where that went... cause we got all that stuff pretty damn quick. It was def already purchased...maybe so Chang didn't happen, sfkk died, what to do with the waterpark expansion? Send it to sfgam ... I obviously am ASSuming all this but its seems logical.
^You have a good point about the waterpark at SFKK. I thought at the time it was something fake because it was like oh sure you are expanding the waterpark, and taking away Chang. They took Chang away, and than boom the park is closed. Hmmm. So, yeah it could have been real. Again, new management came in and said let's get rid of this dump park already - SFKK with 550,000 people only. That's kind of a ridiculous attendance for a Six Flags park.
^^I don't think of Millenium Force as even being good at all. I see it more as Raging Bull, but wow it's taller. However, I think Top Thrill Dragster is a great ride, and it's my number 10 favorite roller coaster. For a Millenium Force / Raging Bull type of ride, I think Superman Ride of Steel at Six Flags America (I haven't been on the other 2.), Goliath at SFOG, and Diamondback (Kings Island) are superior rides to those two.
Everyone is going to have an opinion though. That's why a park like Cedar Point has a ride like Millenium Force & they still have a ride like Gemini which I think is one of the most underrated coasters out there. People are still riding Gemini or they wouldn't have it, and people are still riding Millenium Force. It is what it is. Everyone has different tastes in rides.

For some reason I can't edit my post but what other mouse does SFNE have? They never got the Dark Knight, they never got permits for it so they say & it went to SFMx ... which I think was deserved & they deserve something new still. What ever happened to pandamonium goin there?!
^They have Pandemonium - like SFOT & SFStL - sort of like the Tony Hawks. The "newer" one came from SFKK.
I don't know if you are asking this, but I don't know where that Pandemonium one from Discovery Kingdom went to..
Huh. I know I'm blabbing about other stuff other than Cedar Point but what's interesting is that I looked at La Ronde rcdb, and the SLC that was at Astroworld that was stored at the Great Escape eventually went to La Ronde. I remember thinking are they going to put that SLC up at Great Escape, but that totally went under the radar for me.

Oh pandamonium I hardly look at as a mouse though it tech is. They're just so different from what dark Knight or even a ragin Cajun style ride is.
Yes, La Ronde has Vampire & Ednor. I know its awk to have two inverts but they deliver complete different experiences. Everyone freaked about Leviathan coming to CW but I think its one kick ass duo to have the highest quality coaster company give you a hyper & a giga. Not to.mention there's a reason Levi is my number one coaster....its incredible.
Good to know where that bright green B&M track is going now its not CP I WANNA KNOW what it is though!
Today they formally announced the closure and removal of Space Spiral and Disaster Transport. Also bidding for the last rides on Disaster Transport can be found here, https://www.firstgiving.com/gktw/finaldispatch.
