Opening Day is FINALLY Here :D

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

but having no problem selling flashpass passes to make more money. Some might wonder if this is done intentionally to spur on flash pass sales?

While I think it's unrelated to SUF running 1 train this weekend (that is more lack of maintenance staff among other things), I think it brings up a good point. When I was at Six Flags Over Georgia last summer I left for lunch and came back in and saw a big sign with the wait times posted, and all of them were grossly over posted. Most rides around the park were 10-30 minute waits, and none of the wait times were posted under 45 minutes. Goliath was posted at 1 1/2 hours and there was about a 30 minute wait. Of course the sign was when you enter the park conveniently placed right next to the Flash Pass Sales Center.

I definitely think there is an effort related to this with season pass sales, it seems every year there is a bigger effort to push season passes. This way when they report to Wall St, at least they can say they have record season pass sales year after year. Doesn't seem like a bad strategy though sadly the advertisements for season passes all over the park kind of ruin the parks atmospheres.

A good example of this would be the new coaster. At this point it's obvious that X Flight is ready to open next weekend, however, even though the park is open to the public that day the ride is only open for season passholders. You know there are going to be some ticket upgrades going on that day, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a sign that says "X Flight only open for season passholders....upgrade to a season pass here" with a big arrow pointing to a kiosk that sells season passes.

I am not pretending to "know it all." I am looking at it objectively from a customer point of view. And, after working at parks in the past, I actually do know a little, anyway.

Bingo!

Six Flags is known for sub-par service. However, my opinion is that Great America usually stands above the others. It's becoming more and more a game of "let's get their money, get them in here... then... whatever..." It's clearly that way selling season passes, day tickets, even flash passes and season dining tickets may be going that way, too.

The old adage "you get what you pay for" is true, most of the time.

Then again going to a theme park is not cheap anyway not just at SF but other themepark across the counry. Were lucky we even got a new ride this year and Great America is still open. I was really suprised it was busy yesterday the lines for the season pass processing was crazy if you got a voucher and want to add parking and dining try getting it at the ticket booth instead so you could just proceed to season pass line and get it printed without being sent to another line so its probly gonna be a busy year this season because of Xflight youll be lucky to even get a ride on Xflght on its opening day I hope the weathers cold and rainy so it wont be busy.

They were announcing it Saturday when I went that X-Flight won't be open to the public unless you have a season pass, but who knows. We will ride once or twice during the exclusive ride time, and then maybe a time or two after the park opens, but unless there are barley any season pass holders (yeah right  ) we will be on Raging Bull and leave X-Flight for the exit coupons...

In fact, I think that'll be the plan all season. maybe Superman will be only 30 - 45 minutes wait now instead of 2 hours...

130 for the upgrade, but you get an exit pass every time you go. If you didn't upgrade, 200 for the full price. Good for any ride, including Whizzer ;)

Where did you hear or read this? I was not told this. An exit pass is an exit pass, and if they were going to have that stip, they would have said it up front, and not sold alot of those Xtreme Passes.

Read this on the website...

One ride eXit pass each visit valid for any one ride

http://content.sixflags.com/greatameric ... tremepass/

IF they did what you were stipulating, not only would that be the single STUPIDEST thing they could do - but - they wouldn't have sold any of these xtreme passes.

The main perk is the exit pass. I believe you may be thinking about the new Platinum flashpass with X-Flight option that allows you to ride the ride once, and reserve it only once.

Here is an image of the exit pass they were giving out.

Just called them and talked to a customer servuce rep, who explained they have been getting tons of calls on this issue.

Their website does NOT list that stipulation at all, and further more, as I explained to them, I wouldn't have purchased their bait and switch scam if they would have stated that.

He stated to fill out a customer service form in the contact us as a concern / complaint and a manager would get back to me. He also stated that you have to state that you expect a call back.

This is a crock.

I called Guest Services at about 11am and spoke with Suzanne. She told me that there will be different exit passes for the Xtreme Pass holders that will be valid on XFlight but you have to use them within the first two hours. I also asked about how many Xtreme passes sold and she said more than expected but far, far below their limit.

my dad knows someone who works here and they were saying how they would have to put a limit on these xtreme passes so that you can actually get on x-flight the 12th more than once...He was told they were only selling 250 of these passes but that is really hard to believe so my guess is about 500 were sold and that is probaly 2 or 3 times on x-flight from 9-10

The lady on the phone said there was a certain mathematical equation on how many riders per hour it could handle and that is how many Xtreme passes they would sell. Sounded stupid but if shes right and they are not close to their limit than possibly more than one ride (I hope).

Well, I'm glad you brought this up! One of the main reasons I dished out over $1000 for 5 Xtreme passes was for the exit passes. I was really debating whether or not they were worth the cost, so I called Great America's office over a month ago and asked them specifically about the benefits, especially the exit passes, and they told me they were good on ALL rides, including x-flight, and that's what made my decision to buy them. I went this weekend, but didn't notice that printed on the passes they gave me, until I saw this thread today. SO, I called them, and they told me the same thing- they were not good on x-flight, and proceeded to try and sell me the benefits of a platinum flash pass!

I was livid! I reminded the guy that it says on the website it is good on ALL rides, they told me on the phone before I bought them it was good on x-flight, and even the recording that I had to listen to for 20 minutes while on hold with them mentions the exit passes with no mention of not being good on x-flight. He agreed, and suggested I send an e-mail to Six Flags corporate to complain!

This, after finding out that X-Flight is open to all season passholders all this weekend long anyway makes that extra hour of ERT not really worth it in my opinion, and the free parking pass they gave me is only limited to one of my five passes, not to mention the new dining meal pass they announced AFTER I bought my Xtreme passes, I'm really regretting buying these Xtreme passes! I should've just bought the regular passes and added the meal passes, and would've been much happier.

Thanks for letting me vent!

The CSR said they have different exit passes being printed just for the extreme pass holders.

Something tells me that their PR person is the cause of all these mis-confusion. For X-Flight, and it's opening day, they do have the sign out at the front entrance that X-Flight will not open till May 16th, but than I noticed they don't have any signs when people are paying at the ticket booths. Instead, they want the people to pay at the ticket booths, and than right when you are standing in line to get in with your tickets, they have the signs out that say X-Flight open May 16th. It seems kind of jerky to not tell people before they are buying their tickets that a new ride or any ride is not going to be open for today.

I understand why they would say no X-Flight passes because they want to upsell the really high priced Platinum flashpass, but they didn't mention it on the website (Wrong information).
