Mr. Freeze coasters launching backwards, what about V2?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

This got me thinking. I wonder if it would be possible to reverse the trains on the V2's and launch them backwards. This way you would get the thrill of going backwards into the twisted spike. I thought that part of the ride on Wicked Twister was pretty cool. Heck, even going straight up on the other spike forwards would be different.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I think that would suck. V2 is great just how it is

I think V2 will continue to be lame no matter what they do with it. Being an Intamin, it has enough issues going forwards, but then again, so does Mr. Freeze.

Since this topic is still live, how fast does V2 go on it's first launch. I really don't believe it goes 70mph. Maybe 45/50mph or so? That is my one pet peeve about the impulse coasters. It's not that they don't launch to the full speed on the first pass, but how they are marketed as "launch 0-70mph in ___ seconds"!

Well, you do go 0 - 70 mph in less than 4 seconds but it is not at the launch. There is a point on the back spike when the train is at 0 mph. Then the LIM's and weight of the train rocket back through the station at 70 mph in about 4 seconds.
I do not think I would like V2 to run backwards because the most intense part is when on the back spike, you get a second or two of weightlessness before flying down toward the ground and through the station at 70 mph. Riding backwards would not press you against the back of your seat. A much different scenario than Mr. Freeze (StLouis, TX) and Superman (MM).

i think it would be cool to do because i went to cedar point last year and went on wicked twister and facing the ground going up the spiral tower was cool and it does give you the weighlessness for like 1 or 2 seconds

Lets just get them to focus on AE blue backwards for now ;) haha

As for WT, I used to work it & will say its the best impulse out there now...however, I liked V2 more due to its holding brake but lets not get into that again, there's a forum for that topic alone ;) I just would rather them finance that back in order over them reversing the train.

Maybe for 2013, well get a launch coaster that has a reverse section like SFMM is rumored to have ;) haha

I don't know how this would fare with the operator booth location. On Freeze (and even AE), the operator is situated in an area with a view that's not really obstructed and can see everything going on to make the "final" decision to dispatch.

Now, having worked V2 before, I know that the operator doesn't technically have a perfect view of everything either with the train going forwards, but they can at least see passengers and see one final visual of the train/passengers before dispatch.....which I guess *could* fall on the enable position....but they are the only team member that really can see the back (then front) of the train while the rest are towards the front.

So...it could pose a safety issue more than anything else.

That's why when you go up the twisty spike the 2nd time, it goes further up than the 1st and 3rd time.

You're on the right track, V2 launches you and you don't go nearly to the top of the spike.....then on you're way to the back spike it speeds you up. The rest of the cycle the speed is maintained until it slows down before the final time up the "twisty spike".

Do you really think that starting backwards would be all that different? it would probably make the straight tower more boring...
I'm irreverent and stuff...
