I had the pleasure of being on the Blue Streak crew 92/93, before the ride was updated with frankenstein-like trains and a new system. Everything was manual - it was a great experience. Some of the best summers in my life.
Finally got around to scanning in some pictures from then, so I figured I would share them.
I take it wearing a white belt severed a purpose back then as well
Nice photos, I really miss working there. I think it would be cool to work there back then as it seemed like so much carried over year after year. BTW, was Sunday Funday at Louies just as big back then as it has been recently?
I never went to Louies. It was before I started drinking (now I'm a recovering addict/alcoholic). I was a late bloomer, for drinking anyway. Thank god, too. I would have probably got fired if I was drinking in those days, or worse...
The white belt damn I knew someone was going to mention that. My friend Chris, who was the Blue Streak lead in 92, told me he thought the white belt made the uniform look more "classy." So that's it... when I look back, I realize how clueless I was
Glad you guys enjoy the pics. I really miss that ride. How cool would it be if such a big popular and modernized place like Cedar Point still had a classic coaster? I mean - was it worth the insurance savings?

I have to say, even with all the sins that have been committed against that ride, it's still one of the best rides in the park. It's one of the only rides I consider a must ride at Cedar Point along with Magnum. Sure Raptor, Maverick, and Gemini are all that is fun, but if I go to Cedar Point and ride Magnum a few times along with Blue Streak a few times, I call the day a success.
