Very cool to see the park so tree-less! I know these old pics/videos are rare for our park. I have yet to find some footage or photo of the Tidal Wave when the BLUE lights are on! The blinking white lights were great of course, but when they turned blue, it was like friggin heaven.
Does anyone remember the sequence? Didn't it go from white to blue - then when the train would launch, the whole strand would stop in white, then start blinking, then turn blue when the train went backwards? Or the other way around? Or did it change? It's been so long...
Nice find! Archival footage like this can be hard to come by. Very cool to see how the park has changed, especially the difference in park foliage. I would've loved to be around during this period of Great America's history.
If I remember right, when it launched the white lights would chase toward the drop weight. When it reversed the blue lights would chase backwards with the train. Damn i really miss this ride.
Candy: What you lookin' at? Otis B. Driftwood: I'm lookin' at you, mama. Candy: Yeah, you see something you like? Otis B. Driftwood: Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed.
