The 2013 Discussion

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Why don't we wait and see if the world still exists before trying to figure out 2013!

Seriously.....who knows what 's going to happen. Whatever it is, it's basically already been planned I would think.

I hope your right, this years shows were terrible.

Don't we pretty much always get a new show of some kind pretty much every year anyways? Last year we got Pop Fusion and Fantome (Fright Fest), and this year we're getting a new Mardi Gras show of some sort. So we'll probably get atleast one new show in 2013 regardless.

Im not to big on the SkyScreamer idea either. Id rather get a S&S Swing or another big flat. What are some other flats besides these two that the park could use?

I don't think we need a Skyscreamer due to Condor.

My 4 guesses are:
- S&S Screaming Swings where the Go-Karts Are
- Major New Ferris Wheel where Iron Wolf was
- Refurbishment of Older Attractions (Flumes, Whizzer, Eagle, Etc.)
- All New Shows (Screams and Dreams Pt. 2, Etc.)

^ They JUST built that Go Kart track last year. If you think there is any chance they're going to take it out any time soon, well, you're just wrong.

And it was very popular. It was always pretty crowded whenever I was in that area.
Top 5: 1) El Toro. 2) Maverick. 3) Millenium Force. 4) Diamondback. 5) X2.

Repaint V2, Ragin Cajun and Batman different colors except one stays yellow. in my opinion

My 3 Predictions I think will be

#1 New Flat either in trailblazer spot or Wolf's spot or a flat ride or Water Ride (Yankee Clipper) get's the ax and they put in a new one.

#2 New Kids area if they revamped Cartoon Network, Expand into Wolf's Spot.

#3 Another HH expansion

^^ Ragin' Cajun isn't worth putting any money in to. The ride has been here for 8 years now and is still not capable of running the way it is supposed to. The only money that should be spent on Cajun is dis-assembly costs.

FParker185 wrote:Well between what is generally considered to be one of the lamest splashdown rides in the world, and a log flume that so far has had more downtime then uptime and showed up with boats that didn't fit in the ride. I vote for option C. Keep the current flumes, and for a fairly minimal cost just get new galvanized steel trough for the upper sections to replace the nearly worn out Fiberglass. Then revisit the issue in another 30-40 years.

I don't like that Intamin one at Cedar Point either. In the trough, you are barely moving. I wish instead we could get the people that made the Kiddieland one (Log Jammer) to do Great America's. The ones we have right now, they are older, and they leak plus to me the park only needs one of them. For the one that used to be at Kiddieland, the trough in my opinion before the lift hill was pretty fun because it was fast, but it wasn't too fast, and you had a chance of a small splash during portions of the ride. However, for SFGAm's, it's like hurry up and get to the lift feeling, and than finally when you get to the concrete, it starts going slower.

If they wanted to, they could even offer 2 experiences like they do now, but with only 1 ride instead of 2. Right now, for instance the log ride really could use either side to go down the final drop, but instead they only use 1 side. So, if they built another one with Kiddieland's design, have a left side with the hill for the drop, and a right side that is straighter down. Thus, make it random what people get on the ride.

The thing is though that I don't see them fixing it in the near future because they have done so much with water just recently from Buccanneer to the Waterpark.

I think however the best flume ride would be Splash Mountain, but yet would SFGAm really create a story along the log ride? They have done stories for dark rides (Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo), but I don't know if they would spend that type of money for a log ride. Also, with log rides how many of them has Six Flags rebuilt really? They basically haven't done much unless like Magic Mountain this year, they are taking it down.

My favorite flume ride is Ripsaw Falls. I prefer Splash Mountain's theming but Ripsaw is a much better ride in my opinion. While I don't want a loud or disrupting ride in Hometown Square, I do think it needs something new considering all the attractions are from the 70's. A decent, updated family flat would do just fine though it would probably have to replace either Triple Play or HTFM.
Top 3 Steel Coasters: 1. The Incredible Hulk 2. Maverick 3. Dragon Challenge (Fireball)

Top 3 Wood Coasters: 1. The Beast 2. American Eagle (Red) 3. Hades

I wouldn't mind a Skyscreamer going in HTFM's spot. But you'll have to get through me to remove Triple Play.

What exactly is the fascination with the S&S Screamin' Swing?? Everytime I've went to CP it seemed like it would run 2-3 cycles and then go down for something. Plus, I could never see GAm staffing the ride to where it would be feasable to run and get the capacity it is deemed to have.
