Mark Shapiro,,,, Part 2

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

You remember Shapiro back in 2005 stating what he is going to do with the SF parks. Now, here we are, with the new CEO of Cedar Fair saying the same stuff.

CF CEO
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Hopefully it works out for them, which is should in a big way. There is no way anyone can make any possible argument that Cedar Point, KI, KD and some of their other larger parks "needs" another coaster anytime soon before addressing the near total lack of modern family rides.

Cheers to Cedar Fair! I actually am not a fan of the whole CF vs. SF arguments... But you gotta admit, Cedar Fair parks (most of them, at least) have a very well rounded collection. You've got the thrills, the family coasters, and then the kid roller coasters. But I do agree that they should start expanding their variety to families because they are the ones spending the money.

Cedar Fair can only get better now that old Dicky is gone. Here's hoping they finally understand rides for everyone > coaster count.

I wonder if Cedar Points "3 coasters in 5 years" plan will still hold through the new changes. While I do think Cedar Point needs another coaster, it needs a total fix up before they add anything else. They already are fixing up and adding to Soak City which hasn't been done in like 15 some years. All of the water slides are being painted multi colored and some of the cement is being redone. Most of Cedar Points traffic thrives on the big huge coasters added every few seasons. With no more big coasters, attendance will drop quick unless they are able to make people want to return by other ways. For example making cleaner and better resorts, and paying more attention to park atmosphere. Also adding shade to the que lines!

One thing I have already noticed is how they treat employees and I have heard nothing but good things for next season. A promotion and good friends are pulling me back for a 3rd summer so it will be interesting to see what changes. I am looking most forward to not paying $7 for a crappy employee cafeteria meal.
