At first being able to see the top of the the shuttle loop above the trees ruined his life, then the noise from traffic ruined his life, then the noise from concerts and fireworks ruined his life, and now the fact that no one cares is ruining his life. Going back to court over a case that started in 1998?
Last we heard from this guy he was complaining that the noise from the park's nighttime show was making it unpleasant for him and his guests while they were in his backyard. I'll tell you, I hear the noise from Disney World's fireworks in my backyard and you know what it sounds like? It sounds like having an economy and making money in a time when most of the world isn't. I bet that most people that live in the area have no problem with Alton Towers as chances are it employs their kids, every time an article comes out about noise issues Mr and Mrs Roper seem to be the only ones complaining. This has just become a joke, Alton Towers has been forced to bend over backwards to make these people happy. Its is the highest attended theme park in the UK by far and they can't even build anything taller then the tree's.
I've never lived around an amusement park, but even in it, the noise isn't all that bad and very tolerable. Outside, it can't be that loud. This is just a couple of stuck up NIMBYs.
If you live in Alton (or anywhere near Alton) there is a good chance you either work at the one factory in town or at Alton Towers. It's such a huge boom to the economy that a case like this would never go against the park.
It's not as if the park hasn't done everything they can to stay out of people's lives. Only one roller coaster can be seen from outside the park (Oblivion, and you need to be on the huge hill adjacent to be seen) and the park is next to very very few actual houses. The fireworks happen 4 nights the entire year.
Point is - well, you know.

I always try to see the little guys point of view in cases like these...but the fact is as it was mentioned Alton Towers is excellent for the economy, just like Great America is for Gurnee. I suppose if it really gets to people, why don't they move?
This all goes back to anyone who ever willing moves near a park should be flogged anytime they complain about said parks anything. Their money they bring in > idiots complaints.
They kind of have a point. The park opened in the 1860s, but didn't really start adding major attractions until the 1980s. The park can always say that it was there first, but these people can say they were there before the park became a major amusement park with roller coasters and could not have foreseen this. Still, I think these people are being completely unreasonable considering the efforts the park has made to try to keep itself from being seen outside of it's grounds. People like this really irritate me, they think that just because they don't like something, they should try to take it down so no one else can enjoy it. I get it, you don't care for the park or roller coasters, but please let others enjoy it.
These people all lived there long before the park became an amusement park. Still the reality is the park is there now, it's a major economic engine in the area, they should have spoken up 20 years ago before they put in any rides and if enough people would have spoken up, there'd be no rides now.
