Any reason people don't quote? or is that just the "standard" that people have adopted (the carrot)

Not passing judgement, just asking out of curiosity really.

Sorry to be off-topic here but I usually actually "quote" people on the site if I really want to get their attention. It just makes it easier to notice when you're scrolling down the page that someone is directly replying to a post. Yeah I was curious to as to how the whole carrot thing started. I remember when it was nothing but quoting after quoting and no carrot was to be seen. But I wonder how it all started??

Back on topic, I didn't realize that vid was posted before. Sorry. I really don't read every post/reply. Usually just the latest ones. Its kinda hard to believe though a ride like that is going from Iron Wolf to an apocalyptic theme. It just feels strange a simple ride like IW is totally getting some ultimate theme. Hopefully the scenery/environment play a role and truly make it themed like that. I hope they just didn't re-name it like that and place it down when it really won't feel like an apocalyptic ride. :?

Not to mention, people usually do the carrot wrong anyway.

For example (" ^ ") Indicates that the person is referring to the post directly above them.

(" ^^ ") Means 2 posts above them.

(" ^^^ ") Means 3 posts above them and so and so on. Now, if you are doing more then 2 post above you might as well just quote it as it gets confusing. But I see people use 4 like (^^^^) when they are just referring to the post right above them. It's my pet peeve along with people who do smiles backwards like (:

...damn kids

Is anybody going to the park Saturday? If so, could you get some pictures of Wolf. I wonder how much progress they have made this week since the park is closed.

I'll be at the park on Saturday as well. It'll be weird seeing Iron Wolf over the next few weeks, slowly being taken down.

I to will also be at the park on Saturday. I am very curious to see how much progress has been done on IW removal as well as any X-Flight construction progress. I am also hoping to see some Fright Fest set up. Very exciting Saturday ahead :D . I will be maxing out on AE Backwards tomarrow as well since its the last day. Hopefully it won't be to crowded.

I doubt construction for X-Flight will begin tomorrow or anything in the SWF area will happen till maybe at the end of the season. The SWF area will probably get cleaned up by the end of the season and then I can see construction beginning early next year probably around end of february or beginning of march-ish. But then again I really don't know how long it takes for construction on a major roller coaster.

Photos up on SFGAm's Facebook. 2 photos so far. I'll be in the park tomorrow and have my own update if the park's photos prove insufficient .

If I had to guess, by the end of fright fest the SWF area will probably be a pretty level area of clean dirt, MAYBE some footers will start to be drilled.

Just curious why IW did not have a ACE plack like BTR?

Its not an ACE Coaster Landmark because there was very little to nothing new about it, before B&M went independent they used to work for Intamin and made numerous standup coasters that were very similar to Iron Wolf (see: Batman at Astroworld and Corba at Laronde).

ACE offered SFGAm a coaster landmark for Wolf if they didnt take it down. They still did.

I wonder why the park wouldn't want to sell some concrete slabs off of wolf for some extra $$.

Necropolis wrote:Yeah scenery and environment are definitely a huge part of a coaster. I mean I don't remember because I was too young but didn't Superman: UF open and there was nothing but dirt and gravel everywhere? No grass or trees, etc? Well they gotta do what they gotta do but if anything, they can just take out the tress and bushes that were there and just replant them in a temporary location. Then once everything there is constructed again, then re-plant the old trees. Simple as that. :)

When it was shockwave, it was just asphalt. Superman came in and got the grass treatment with opening

I need help figuring out if people are sad because a roller coaster is leaving SFGAm or because Iron Wolf is leaving SFGAm. In my opinion, we should all be sad a coaster is leaving, but be glad that it is Iron Wolf leaving.

Frankly I feel bad for all those people eagerly awaiting their "NEW" ride. Hopefully they stock up on aspirin and figure out to stand in the front rows of the train so they can actually "enjoy" their new ride without much pain (there will be pain, just not a lot).

Now with IW gone (technically - it has a new name so it can't be called B&M's first coaster any longer) we still have B&M's 2nd coaster, which now will be their first so everyone go hug a B:TR support when you have time.

I had a 8 beers and 4 shots of Goldschläger on Labor Day, toasting 21 years of awesomeness. 10 years ago, and even before that it was a fantastic ride (I remember Opening Day for it) but good riddance. May the headaches continue... but not at our park.

Batman is actually B&M's fourth roller coaster. It is the first inverted however so we still have that! :) I am personally glad it's leaving as I'm sure it means something better replacing it soon.

Your logic confuses me. Yes the name is different, but that doesn't change the fact that it's the first coaster they built, and Vortex won't magically become their first. Sure it will open again in 2012, but it was still built in 1990, that won't change.

Keywords here. "Vortex won't" magically become their first".
