Valleyfair! 8/19/11

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Cole on August 24th, 2011, 9:17 pm
Minnesota… one of the boringest places on earth. Luckily we were able to find Valleyfair! after 6 hours of driving from Milwaukee. Valleyfair was a nice little park with a awesome coaster in Renegade! Seriously this thing kicks ass. I was skeptical about the curved drop but it ended up being awesome! It has some really nice GCI air and it has a awesome layout. Its more of a mini Gravity Group coaster with Millennium Flyers. It was a little rougher then other GCIs I’ve been on but didn’t bother me much. Wild Thing was alright. If you like floater air this is definitely your ride cause it has a crap load of it. They had a decent collection of coasters and nothing really sucked. Anyways on to the photos.

Image
Valleyfair!

Image
Wild Thing is just gigantic.

Image
Support Enthusiasts must love this ride.

Image
Weird looking Morgan Hyper trains.

Image
We naturally hit the Intamin right away figuring it’d break down sooner or later.

Image
The holding break on this HURT. I don’t understand why you GAm people want it back on V2.

Image
At this point I was screaming “TWISTY! THE RIDE IS TWISTY!”

Image

Image

Image
This thing looked fun, painful, and wet.

Image
Wild Thing just towers over everything.

Image
Typical Cedar Fair queue.

Image
I promise this isn’t the last of the Wild Thing lift hill pics.

Image
This thing was plain awesome.

Image
Oddest flat ever. This thing just rocks back and forth like a swing!

Image
What’s that in the distance?

Renegade: Outlaw Coaster

GCI blur

Image
I apologize for the lack of Renegade photos. Its impossible to get any shots of the first half of the ride.

Image

Image

Image
Millenium Flyers have these sexy grills.

Image
Renegade in the distance

Image
Unfortunately this is my only photo of Excalibur. Pretty decent ride, the trims really save you. Its another hard to get photo.

Image
Mad Mouse

Image
This Arrow Mouse has some airtime.

Image
Probably my favorite mouse anywhere, but that’s not saying much.

Image

Image
Cedar Fair just has to put seat belts on everything…

Image
Corkscrew, running one train…

Image
Wasn’t as bad as I expected, definitely not worth the half a hour wait at all.

Image
Corky drop
Image

At Valleyfair (and some other CF parks I’ve been to) They have this mid day matinence check on the ride where they shut the ride down, thoroughly check the train, and do a few test runs. Well I’m sure %99.9999 of the time nothings ever wrong. Thanks for wasting 20 minutes of my Renegade time VF.

Image
Artsy!

Image
Again

Image
Walking in to the park I thought this was a bobsled! I was just a little off.

Image
Splash!

Image
High Roller is just a awesome, old school, kick ass woodie.

Image
I see you.

Image
Airtime!

Image
I don’t know if this thing was rough or not because the cars were just so damn comfortable! I could fall asleep in those.

Image
Just a awesome ride.

Image
Why hello there.

Image
This thing is TALL. Anyone know how tall?

Image
Upskirt shot :)

Image
You can go up, or down. (Up is better!)

Image
Just plain fun, a drop tower done right!

Image
More Wild Thang

Image
Bert the Conqueror taught me that this hill right here has the longest stretch of airtime in the world!

Image
Oh s……

Image
Told you it wasn’t the last of them!

Image

Image

Image

Image
This thing sat closed… all… day… long…

Image
Didn’t ride this cause it looked plain painful.

Image
Back to Renegade!

Image
Wee!

Image
Ready to go!

Image
Final airtime hop!

Image
No caption needed.

Image
Thanks for having us!

Image
Bye Valleyfair, thanks for the GCI and credits.

Image
After a epic hide and seek game at Ikea.

Image
It was MOA time! :)

Image
At this point, my camera ran out of battery, so I apologize for any people anxious for MOA photos.

At MOA we basically rode Spongebob and Avatar a bunch of times, took a spin on the new Brain Surge ride (which is awesome!), then left.

Thanks for Reading.

Sounds like you had more fun at VF! than I've ever had :D

I forget the height on Power Tower there but I think it is the tallest set in the world just edging out Knotts.

Sucks that Extreme Swing was closed, it's easily the best flat in the park. The topspin is actually a lot of fun (and gets you soaked) because you're not sure to focus on the ride or the water.

Glad you liked Renegade and High Roller. Valleyfair isn't a park that is going to satisfy a big coaster enthusiast who is only looking for big thrills, but I like the park for what it is, a smaller park that caters to the thrill seeking Minnesotans who don't know that there are coasters over 250 feet tall.

Wild Thing really does suck though. Worst hyper ever.

Better than Magnum? Wild Thing is the only hypercoaster ever built that features no airtime what so ever, anywhere. Closest you get is 0G on the first camelback.

I also like Wild Thing better than Magnum. Magnum and Desperado are by far my 2 least favorite hypers.

Image
Anyone else think it's funny how they just painted as far up as their ladder could go?

I like ValleyFail! However nothing can beat the long standing and time honored tradition of yelling ValleyUn-Fair! every time a coaster you are on hits trim brakes (which the park has to have more of than any other park in the world)

As FParker said, its a hypercoaster with 0 airtime. It's smooth, but its just boring.

Of course, I'm in the camp that loves Magnum/Desperado, and those are on the total opposite end of the spectrum from Wild Thing / Mamba (which I also dislike)
