Great American Scream Machine at SFGADV and Magnum at Cedar Point are the only two I can think of off the top of my head that opened the year I was born. This was the year after Shockwave opened at SFGAM and the year before Iron Wolf opened.

1982 was a very slow year for coasters due to the recession, Wiener Looping, Darien Lake Viper or KD Grizzly would be the biggest notables....

\/ Could be worse, only one year removed from The Worst Coaster on Earth: Goudurix (1989) :D

When I was born, B&M introduced us to the worst ride in Great America history, the Iron Wolf.

The Beast opened fifteen days before my birthday.

1979 was apparently popular for coasters named Corkscrew or Cork Screw, 4 in total that year and all of them are still operating.

American Eagle and I both joined the 30's club this year. Also Canada's Wonderland opened in 1981 as well.
Push down, then pull up. Exit to your left/right. And, enjoy the rest of your day at Six Flags! Your friendly enthusiast Kyle.

1991 featured two amazing Dinn coasters...Psyclone and Mean Streak. And while I actually tolerate Mean Streak, Psyclone was a little too much for me...and everyone. It was also the year Steel Phantom came out. Sadly I was never able to ride it or the much better modification Phantom's Revenge.

Damn, do I feel old. Born in 1971 so living in the Chicago area, it wasn't a good time to start out as a coaster enthusiast.

Riverview closed 4 years before I was born.
SFGAm opened 5 years after I was born.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

You got me beat, but I am as old as the park (1976), Turn of the Century, Gulf Coaster, and Willard's Whizzer.

I believe Giant Drop opened the same day I was born! 8)
At other parks: Superman Escape from Krypton and Chang (LOL), just to name a few.
SFGAm Ride Count 2018: 286
SFGAm Ride Count 2019: 252

Seven coasters opened the year I was born, and only one is still running, the rest of the parks are now gone.

Cyclone - Wonderland
Galaxi - Hemis Fair
Love Bugs - Palisades
Monster Mouse - Legend City
Sidewinder - Legend City
Shooting Star - Lakeside
Zingo - Bell's Amusement Park
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.
