I am reading some stories on the internet that the storm that came thru Monday morning closed the park all day. The parks web site states that they were closed all day Monday and they will be closing at 800pm today, so if any one is going today, beware of the new hours. I am thinking of going today because maybe it will be less croweded, but this will be a gamble because who knows what rides may be closed? Does anyone have more info?
On Tuesday, most of the left side of the park is closed - Superman, Condor, V2, Ragin Cajun, Batman, Dark Knight, Big Easy Balloons, etc. Iron Wolf though, Revolution, and Eagle were open. The train was open, but not till 12 pm maybe. Though Sky Trek Tower, Columbia Carousel, and Giant Drop weren't open. Not only that, but for rides like Demon, and Raging Bull for a long time during the day, they only had 1 train. I was on the Demon, and Raging Bull line was stretching all the way to Chubasco I think. For Demon, when riding that, there is something with wrong with that red train, or something with the brakes. It was making a grinding noise on the brakes. It did NOT sound right at all. I never heard that grinding noise until today. They also had no Shows Today: No Pop Fusion, No Pictorium. Tomorrow though I guess they are having Pictorium because they put times on the sign.
For the waterpark, for awhile the Lazy River wasn't open, and the family raft slides never opened. Park closed at 8 pm because the lights in the parking lot aren't working. If your going just for rides, I would wait a bit because I think people are going to have a miserable time with one train operations, and the left side of the park closed.

Wow that's not good. According to the parks FB page they are offering everyone free tickets to come back on another day and there were no flashpasses today

Depends where the grinding was taking place. If it was just outside the station, it could have been the drive tires. When working the ride, I always remember them making excessive noise but it was nothing that concerned mechanics as we called it in multiple times. Keep in mind the only places on the ride with drive tires are the MCBR and the break run just prior to the station.
^Nope, that's not the noise. It wasn't outside the station - the noise - it was in the station itself, and it was during the first brakes after the Corkscrews. It could be a drive tire being the problem though as maybe it's going too fast into the station, and the brakes have to really stop it. The ride even went down today for a little bit, and they said something like they had to reset it. I don't know. It's just not right. For that ride, I feel I know what's sounds normal, and today it didn't. I probably go on it a 100 times a year, maybe more, but I don't keep count.
This year seems weird with rides. For Batman the Ride, before it felt like it was going forward on the chain, and than it went backwards a little. Now, they fixed that though. Than, for Batman one train (the one without covers) felt so rough it was ridiculous. It kind of felt like it's going to fall off the track - sort of like Final Destination.

Can anyone give a status on whats running today? We bought a damn platinum pass for tomorrow and the news is sayin gurnee is gonna be without power til saturday!
As of 1:00 today, power has been restored to the entire park. V2 will remain closed for now because of how much power it uses. Superman hasn't opened yet, and has minor storm damage (part of the skylight blew off the station). Sky Trek Tower and Giant Drop will likely stay closed for now because of how difficult they are to unload if power goes out again.
This post brought to you from the Cyber Cafe, because I still have no power at home.
^ V2, Giant Drop, and Sky Trek Tower will be closed until the park has 100% power. Right now, all of the park has power, but not full power. When that will be, I do not know. Superman has reopened.
Rides Currently Closed: Rue Le Dodge, Condor, Roaring Rapids, King Chaos, Yankee Clipper, Vertical Velocity, American Eagle: Blue Side, Giant Drop, and Sky Trek Tower.

American Eagle: Blue Side was running as of 6:30 today as I got a blue and red ride.

Do GD and STT use alot of power. I know V2 does but do they?
Well, Im still a little surprised that Great America shut down in the middle of Summer. This sure as hell was not good for business (Dam Mother Nature). I have been bored all week, TV sucks during the day, best thing to watch is Rocco's videos of Amusement Parks that I never heard of. I feel like getting the platinum flass pass and going on RB about 15 times in a row today.
^For my previous comments about Batman's no cover train, and Demon's grinding noise. I went on both of these rides today - the no cover train (not trying to, but that was the train), and they fixed the problems. However, for Demon the red train that made the grinding noise was out of service. The other two trains weren't doing that though - yellow and black. So, is something wrong with the red train, or did they really fix it, or what?
What I couldn't believe though for Rue Le Dodge is that there are around 8 cars out of commission. That's a lot for that ride! And I don't know when they put this in there though (last month, this month), but they have a permanent fan that reminds in the order of Batman the Ride (on the middle of the back of wall), but this is silver, and it almost doesn't even feel like there is a fan. Can't they speed it up or something? They had a portable big fan too, and that was stronger than the permanent one.

For Batman, no. For Rue Le Dodge, no. For Demon, yes.
