But outgoing CEO Richard Kinzel says the company is stable now. And with the exception of a parkin Santa Clara, California, that it hopes to sell to the San Francisco 49ers, it anticipate no major deals.
“Other than that, we have no parks on the market and we’re not talking to any one about divesting any of our parks. We’re very pleased with all of them. They all contribute very handsomely to our bottom line.”
Well now we see why they moved Invertigo. Sad day for the theme park business.
I think this was mentioned a year or so ago, that Cedar Fair told the city and 49'ers that they refuse to negotiate with either party and they will fight to the end to leave their parking lots untouched, but if either wants to buy the park they'd be willing to sell. 49'ers hinted that a purchase of that magnitude wasn't in their budget and isn't possible. I don't think the city ever commented on it, since they already own the land the park is on anyways, they are wielding the power.

At least that means something will most likely go there in the future, unless they find 100 benches not to be a ridiculous eye sore that even a 6 year old would notice that something was odd.
Yes, something will go there in the future, probably the near future. A expansive parking lot for the new 49'ers stadium. It's becoming fairly clear now that Cedar Fair does not expect to hang onto Great America for all that long. The new woodie has pretty much been cancelled, now they are tearing out newer major rides with no replacement. The writing is on the wall. It's unfortunate, but that's the nature of the business these days.

From my visit to CGA in 2009 it was crystal clear that Cedar Fair was hesitant to spend money on the park while this 49ers situation was pending. Imagine going to SFGAm and having Demon still be one of the parks main coasters....it pretty much is the 2nd most popular coaster in the park behind Top Gun.
