Tons of pics of Six Flags New Orleans.

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

The state of what the park looked like back in late 2009. Interesting and disturbing at the same time.

Wow, thats crazy... only because I have been looking into this park the last 2 days as well.

This park had two chances to recover, both were a shot in the dark by a small amusement company named Southern Star Amusements. The owners first attempt was a shot in the dark, as he was severly under funded, and was essentially pursuing a dream.

His second effort, had a little more foundation to it, as he gained Nickelodeons backing to it, with the idea of reopening the park as a Nickelodeon themed amusement park. This quickly fell through, as Nickelodeon pulled out when SSA failed to obtain bonds in time.

While its eerie to see coasters with trains in the station, almost seemingly ready to be sent up the lift hill, the best thing the city of New Orleans can do is just tear this place down. Its only a matter of time until someone gets really hurt, killed, or found dead here.

Id love to visit, might actually put a date in the books..

Atleast they salvaged B:TR

^^The park never had a shot with Southern Star Entertainment. Danny was/is a moron who is chasing a pipe dream.

Was there are contract that Six Flags couldn't take out most of that stuff, because if there wasn't, they could have took out that mouse for the mouse obsessed Six Flags at Six Flags like Discovery Kingdom or St. Louis, and they have a ride that's like Revolution, the Octopus for some park, and that Ferris Wheel. I would like that Boomerang, but what are the chances that Great America would put in a Boomerang after Deja Vu? Probably None.

I think it could have been that Jazzland stuff couldn't have come out of that park. It was only stuff that Six Flags put in, and that's a reason they were able to take out Batman the Ride, and give it to Fiesta Texas.

^I do somewhat. I don't like every Vekoma. I don't like SLC's, Rockin Roller Coaster, and Ninja at SFOG. I don't like Spacely's, and yes I know that it's a toddler coaster, but I thought that it was going to be as good as Okeechobee Rampage that is a longer ride, and much better in my opinion.

However, I like Expedition Everest, Deja Vu (my favorite roller coaster), Invertigo, the regular boomerangs (I tried the ones at SFOT, and GL in Ohio), Firehawk / Batwing, Swamp Thing from Cypress Gardens / ride in kids section that is an inverted Vekoma used to be Runaway Reptar - now something Snoopy or Charlie Brown, and Okeechobee Rampage that used to be at Cypress Gardens.

If the parks can upkeep they're Boomerangs good and regularly have the wheels changed then they'll actually be smooth. I rode Flashback at SFNE the other week and it was as smooth as Batman:The Dark Knight. Now Batman has a little bit of B&M rattle so thats saying a little bit but still it was pleasant.

If you know how to ride a Vekoma they can be good.

But no, Six Flags is done with the park. They ripped the park apart (theming wise, SFNE's chairswing and kiddie coaster got rethemed) and took a few rides out. They cannot take anymore. Some are beyond repair which is why they didn't take them when they had the chance.

According to one of the captions, there were a bunch of other people there getting in, so it doesn't seem like you'd have a hard time getting in. Getting to New Orleans seems like the hardest part.

Question for you though, say law enforcement is looking around and finds photos like this (or any abandoned site). Would they be able to bust you for trespassing or something, or will they not do anything unless they catch you there?

So they just leave all those coasters in to rot??? Isn't there some law saying you have to bulldoze the place? And why wouldn't they move the rides to another park? And do they know people are there going places? My head hurts
Last Visit, American Eagle BACKWARDS 5 times in a row right before the park closed. I cannot WAIT to go back for Fright Fest!

Do some internet searching. We have a ton of rotting parks with coasters and other rides sitting there. Six Flags New Orleans is the new kid on the block when it comes to that.

SFGAm should steal them and refurbish them all with their secret stash of cash they have hidden under Viper and tell Six Flags Inc. we haven't gotten a new coaster in a while. Their fault.

If only that were true ;)

They've been court ordered not to.

I would think rollers have more important things to do than sit around looking at flickr all day...

Even if one were to show up while someone was there taking pictures, I'm pretty sure the worst is something like a $50-$75 trespassing fine; which between parking, food, hotel accommodations, etc., chances are you'd spend that, if not more if the park were open anyway. That is, unless the cop is desperate to meet quota, or is simply a dick... which usually results from the explorer being a dick towards the cop.

I'm thankful there are photographers willing to go to places like these. It brings back some memories. I thought New Orleans was a great park, even if most of their coasters weren't unique, and their wooden coaster was a bit rough. I also remember seeing pictures of the park immediately after Katrina, does anyone know the link for those pics?

It was a nice park, too bad it will most likely never open again.
