Would this make any sense?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

This is more of a question than anything else, but I'm wondering what some of you insiders think of this. We have all heard about how SFGA has been struggling a bit financially. At the same time, we've also been inundated with rumors of new coasters, territories etc. I'm particularly intrigued by the possibility of the new territory. If SFGA were to get one, the possibility of the rumored B&M floorless would seem to make sense, as that would give SFGA the full assortment of B&Ms, something that I'm sure they would love to market. But taking this a step further, if a new territory were to be constructed, what do you think the odds are that they would consider ressurecting Shockwave? I don't ask this because I'm one of the Shockwave lovers who is desperate to have it back, I ask it because that would allow SFGA to have 2 huge coasters in that new area, one of which would only cost them the price of putting it back together. A move like that would allow them to feature 2 huge attractions for the new territory and to save a great amount of money at the same time. Shockwave is listed as "in storage" at RCDB, and doesn't it seem odd that it hasn't either been sold off for scrap or relocated by now? It seems like a huge waste of money to just leave it sitting out there rusting when they could get something for it from one of those 2 means, doesn't it? Now I realize that this is all just in our heads at this point, as we don't even know whether or not the whole new territory rumor is a load of bull or not. But, if there is to be a new territory coming to the park, reassembling Shockwave would seem to be a very reasonable project. I just hope that if they do something like that they'd consider a small redesign to smooth out a couple of the neck-breaker spots. I'm not trying to start any rumors or anything; I'm just wondering what some of you think of this strictly hypothetical possibility.
I'm gonna twist ya, and I'm gonna flip ya. Every time you squeal, I'm just gonna go faster and harder.

I like the way you think, but i seriosuly doubt SW will be reinstalled but it does sound logical, a helluva lot more logical then some of the rumors heard on this site. The problem i see is space, SW took up a ton of space, space is something that SFGAM Doesnt have alot of it seems. I seriously doubt that the park is going to take out the bus lot for a new coaster, but then stranger things have happened. :)

Shockwave is rumored to be going to Six Flags New England, as per our discussion here: http://sfgamworld.com/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... &start=160

Hmm, SFNE huh? That would be a very interesting installation. I can see it fitting in very well there because they don't have any Arrow in the park as of right now and it's lacking looping coasters. All it has is BDK and an SLC.

Bragging rights of having all 4 B&M coasters? Huh? Other than bragging about a new coaster type, the public wont care. Honestly, who really cares if we have 4 B&M's? I know that the world doesn't. I could see a floorless, but not a floorless just to rack up a full assortment of B&M's. The GP could care less who made the rides.

I think the only people who really care about the collection of B&Ms are park official type people and the SF company. I dont think any other park would want SW since it so old and rusting. If there was enough space for a new section then I dont think they would even put SW in there because it takes up a lot of space. So there would probably be a few flats and a smaller coaster type.

Geno21K: I also like the way you think.
That makes a whole lot of sense. A floorless makes sense cause it would round out sfgam's b&m collection.
The new theme and shockwave coming back would be cool but the only problem i see is space, shockwave is a huge coaster and took up alot of space and a floorless going in would be even more space needed. I think to make that work they'd have to some how make the floorless interact with the new themed areaand put then i guess set shockwave somewhere in there.
All we can do is wait and see what happens.

Um the peeps that would care are us coaster enthusiests, sfgam fans, and peeps of the SF company. The gp would just be happy getting a new coaster no matter what type it is or who it is made by.

Exactly, Superman is much smaller and if they were concerned about shockwave they would have put superman somewhere else. because it would be alot easier to find a spot for superman then shockwave.

They should have built it over that big pond/mini lake near them. That would kick ass to fly over. :)

Yeah, but coaster enthusiasts make up about .01% of the paying customers to Six Flags? I don't think they will put in a ride just to satisfy that many people.

Yes, they own the land including the pond. Trouble is, there are houses right on the other side of that pond. No way in hell would those neighbors agree to a coaster being constructed there.

Heck, they were complaining about V2 possibly being to noisy from the riders.

what they could do is put SW or any coaster for that matter in the parking lot, and theme that area of the parking lot. They would have to expand on the parking lot making it bigger to accomodate for the new coaster.

They did the same thing for RB, they destroyed some odd 200 lanes of parking space right next to the territory for a little extra room for RB to thrive.....

Of course the only spot I see for that is right behind the go-karts in the front of the park. 8)

Okay, here's a question. IF Shockwave were to be reinstalled with some modifications to the curve into the MCBR, and to the entrance of the corkscrews, a new color scheme, and a new name, do you think that six flags would be able to pass it off as a new ride?
I do believe that the roughness was the factor that caused most of the GP not to ride it. Now if the roughness wasn't there, do you think that people would recognize it as Shockwave :?:

I think the General Public would not reconize it as Shockwave.

No, people arn't stupid, and most of the returning GP would notice that the ride looks familar. I hear people ask "Where's shockwave" all the time and I think they would remember it. Plus, I don't think that the Six Flags/Media could really pass it off as a new ride. So, if it did return (stop hopeing) the GP wouldn't flock to it as if it were superman.

I kind of agree with planea, I really don't think that most of the general public would recognize it right away.

Unless they were real die hard Shockwave lovers(which most weren't).

Heck, I know people that don't know the difference between Demon and Viper :P

BTW, I have absolutely no hope for Shockwave returning. I had no problem with the ride at all, but I think there are much better rides out there to install, compared to an old beat up Arrow Megalooper.
