Wow.
There are so many rumors out there. Logger's run, the four flats, pendulum, A-Meri-Go-Round, The Columbia, etc. But i heard a very interesting one today.
I heard a rumor today, i don't remember where, that they are going to alter the parade route for next season. On one hand, this could be true because that route was not originally for a parade at all, but for a ride, allie's Trolley. On the other hand, if they purchased four new flats and six flags is tight on budget that couldn't be true. Could it?
I heard that they would alter the track if a bigger flat was put in PD spot because that is right where the tracks end. check one of the other topics....Freak4life mentions it somewhere

Trouble is, how would they re-route that section of track? The final part of the trolley tracks goes right inbetween PD old spot and the chicken restaurant. You basically have no wiggle room there.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
I would really love to see SFGAm take back some of its Heritage ( Marriott's ) and run Allie's Trolley but It might be alittle dangerous lol with all the people on the midways. Maybe thats why they stoped doing it lol.
Yeah, the old trolley would cause nothing but problems these days. People have become more and more ignorant over the years, I'm sure somebody would step in front of it and sue the park for millions.. afterall that seems to be a common trend.
Haha also if you guys are really concerned about the parade being rerouted, I'll ask around and see what I come up with. Frankly, this doesn't seem like something that is interesting enough to be concerned about, hahaha. Nonetheless, I recall hearing that Orleans Place may be rethemed next year, if this has anything to do with it. I think my source on that one was unsure... I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
If they re-routed the parade, they would have to lay new track, because all of the floats are on railroad-type cars. I don't see them doing this unless needed. They already removed tracks that would allow the trolleys the make a complete circuit of HT and OP. These tracks were right in front of the train station in HT and between the gazebo and Power Dive in Orleans.
Maybe they are getting rid of the track system and going to install a Floor Sensor System. Those tracks are unsafe. I have seen people trip over them. Wheel Chairs and Strollers have a hard time going over them. I know Disney got rid of their Tracks a wile back and uses floor sensors now.
if it were to be rerouted through SWT the parade would be too long, especially during the summer. i think the parades are usually an hour before park closing...just dark enough to start fireworks, etc... and it takes a long time just to reach the end of the route now because of minor breakdowns and stupid people running in front of the floats. my point is, if the track is rerouted to a longer route, the parade would have to start earlier to end before park closing, but any earlier than an hour before park closing its too light out to start it... confused....I think I am.

A floor sensor system has nothing to do with the tracks that the floats run on. Even at Disney the floor sensors just tell the lighting and sound where the parade is at, the floats are driven by drivers. The sound for the parade at Great America run manually, and is not run by sensors, you can hear the people at the front and rear of the parade talking into those radios and telling people where the parade is. Even if there was a floor sensor system the floats would still nead to be fixed to run without tracks.
Whats the point of re-routing it? I mean dosnt it just go right down the middle of the walk ways? If so why would they put a ride there. I may be way off base so if I am correct me please.
the parade ends right where PD was, so if a new flat goes in there and they need more space, then the parade route needs to be rerouted...but i dont see that happening.

A little OT. But when I visited disney they had the trolly things running all the time with no problems. If they are run by humans and not automated then they shouldn't be hitting anyone.
Does the track make a circut back to the start for the parade floats, or do they move them back to the start after/before hours? I've only seen the parade once and I never really paid too much attention that time.
I've been in the back area a bunch of times to ride the parade, and it is a complete circut but its kinda interesting how they set up the floats. the floats are on seperate tracks and then when the parade starts, they move them in one at a time.

Haha, no...just to ride the summer parade with my friends. They only allow the public to ride in the Summer parades, I also rode in the Parade for Mardi Gras 2 times...its fun!

well...they give out tickets if you go hug one of the looney tunes, but whenever my friends and I wanted to ride the trolley I just waited by the gates where they start the parade and if they had room, then we were let on.

I just thought of something. In another thread, Someone mentioned that the Wild Mouse is going where The New orleans grill is now. If that's true, then that could be the cause of the parade being rerouted.
P.S. Thanks for the idea swim gurl. I wanna try that in June. Sounds fun.
