Day 1: Ok so I went to KI this past Monday and Tuesday and I was pleasantly surprised. The second I got into the park I lead my whole family to the biggest attraction there. Diamondback. For me it was good, I actually thought in some parts of the ride it was rough. Overall I prefer Raging Bull more. Then we went to the Back Lot Stunt Coaster, all of the cars in the train were painted the same color. What I didn't get was when we stopped by the helicopter nothing happened, but when we finished and were walking by, we noticed that the helicopter was shooting at the cars and the fire was working. Oh and the lights in the tunnel were all on, and there was absolutely no water at the ending (disappointing). Then we sped it up and went to Flight of Fear, overall it was great. I think techno music would go great with it but whatever. We then went to Flight Deck which was a complete walk on, we all loved it. I then went back to Diamondback, the SECOND I got up to the station; they shut it down due to lightning. We then just decided to call it quits when it started pouring.
Day 2: We got to the park and immediately went over to Flight Deck everyone, once again loved it. I did see Son of Beast, and frankly I'm pretty disappointed. It looks like an amazing ride, too bad it's not going to be operating this season. We then went to the Racer, it was another walk-on, it was much better than I expected, and I got some great views of Firehawk. We then rode Racer one last time, and then we went over to Adventure Express. I really loved this ride, the theming was amazing also. The only complaint was the ending with the lift; I really expected to plummet like 100 ft. We then rode it again. Then I took a spin on Delirium, it was good, but too short of a ride, I prefer Revolution over Delirium sadly. We then went over to try out the Vortex, this ride is good, except for the CONSTANT neck banging, I almost reminded me of Iron Wolf, but it wasn't a standup. Then I went over to the Crypt. This is where I really was disappointed. First, while walking in some parts of the queue I couldn't see, it was pitch black. Secondly I didn't feel like I was in a crypt, I felt like I was in hell, or some Goths house. Thirdly, the shortness of this ride makes me sick, only 2 inversions?? At least make it spin a lot more. Fourthly, the lack of theming in the ride made the ride worse then it had to be, the could add some strobe lights, loud techno music, and a whole bunch of lasers or something, Overall I was very disappointed. Anyways, then we went over to get some blue ice-cream, which was delicious. We then hit up their new attraction Boo Blasters on Boo Hill; it was an amazing family attraction. Personally I did not really go for the name Boocifer, I don't know why, it just doesn't seem family friendly to me. We then went to see Snoopy Rocks on Ice; it was a great show, except that someone fell while skating. Then we went back over to Diamondback. Finally to finish off the day I decided to hit up the Beast, which was a walk on. Personally this ride is REALLY rough. I felt like I was getting beaten up on almost constantly. The Beast compared to American Eagle, is very very very rough. But besides that, I loved it. Then as the day came to an end, we then raided the gift shops to get all of our merch.
Personally Kings Island made me appreciate Six Flags Great America a lot. We have so many more attractions then them, and more roller coasters that are well kept (except for Iron Wolf), it just made me appreciate SFGAM so much more.
Aww, no Deja Vu's cousin for you. I was there Sunday and Monday so I might as well post parts of mine here too. I like Flight of Fear more than I did. I have gotten over the stupid stopping brake in the middle of the ride, and it is a good ride. Probably in both days I was in the line for Deja Vu's cousin (Invertigo) for 4-5 hours (sometimes it was 30 minutes). It's an awesome ride, but Deja Vu is still my favorite roller coaster. For mechanical issues, there was only 1 problem within that 4-5 hours which was the wheel on the ride. It must have been making a thump, thump noise or something so it just seems like the guy put the wheel back on the ride, and the ride was working again.
Girls were telling me to switch rows, and they said that every seat is the same on the ride because they both face either way. I was telling them no they are not. For the seat facing the station when going backwards up the lifthill, that one you get longer on the lifthill. If you are more a chicken and afraid of falling out, you don't sit backwards while going up the lifthill because not only is it much more slower going up the first lifthill - the one right after the station, you experience that feeling twice. So, whatever feeling you like better - falling out of your seat, or being pushed backwards, you worry about the first lifthill because you will do that feeling not only longer, but twice. I enjoy the falling out of your seat feeling more than being pushed backwards even though they are both good.
It never seems like 2 days for me for this park is enough, but what can I do.
And for Adventure Express, the only reason for that lifthill is because it goes so far down that it needs to go up again, and how can you get that high again without something to get up there again? It's meant to be a mine train more than an up and down ride so making it just raise up kind of seems weird for a mine ride. For the lights on Backlot Stunt Coaster, probably a mickey d forgot to shut them off because on Sunday, they were off.
Rain was pushing on both days saying it's going to rain a lot and what not. One of the days, a lot of the rides were shut down because of an incoming storm, and I just rode Flight of Fear until everything opened because it's indoors. I think this was Monday. It might have been a hour or hour and 1/2. At first it was packed, but than it started getting less and less of a line. For Flight of Fear, the ufo is only half of a ufo. They have a mirror on the other side of the wall so they didn't have to create the whole ufo. For Backlot Stunt Coaster, the scene was working (with the helicopter) all the times I rode it. Maybe, I rode it 5 times in those days. And someone said about the water with Backlot, it could have to do with the flooding in Ohio they are worried about - maybe, maybe not.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Kings Island is definetly MUCH better then SFGAm, and Diamondback is NOT rough, seems like alot of people have negative comments on Diamondback, they just sit in the wrong spot, DIAMONDBACK IS A FRONT SEAT RIDE! THE BACK SUCKS!!!!!! k thanks

The park preference thing is an opinion, I PREFER Sfgam over KI. And diamondback IS rough in the back. And it's not as if I had much of a choice in it, the worker by the station for the single rider line tells you where to go, it's NOT MY CHOICE.

Diamondback is not rough, but is disappointing for smoothness. Raging Bull was glass smooth at 2 years old. Right now they are about even, but I like Bull better. My group found the best seats to be between rows 3-11 and on the inside seats..... I also enjoyed SUF more than Firehawk and the beast is very overrated. KI is beautifully landscaped and has outstanding kids areas. Neat park, but I wouldn't trade it for what we have.
I prefer SFGAm to KI overall, but I really liked Kings Island as a park as well. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but there were some solid rides inside the park. I didn't think Diamondback was a super fantastic coaster, but it was definitely smooth and delivered some airtime.
Can't believe you guys didn't ride the Beast at night. I had two night rides on the Beast to finish my night a couple weeks ago and they went down as some of the best rides I've had on coasters. So dark, so fast, so awesome. Made the day for me.

I definitely think KI is a great park, but I do agree with you that I prefer SFGAm. I would have loved to rode the Beast at night but some people in my group didn't want to stay at the park that late. And Diamond Back isn't a bad ride, I just really prefer Raging Bull.
If you head back, make The Beast at night the top priority. As for Diamondback vs Raging Bull, it depends on the type of coaster you like. I love floating air time, thus I like it over Bull. But if you like fast turns and such, I can see where bull ranks ahead.
I love a super fast, intense coaster with big airtime and some fun unexpected turns. Hence why I like rides like Nitro, Hades, El Toro ect. So it seems like I would like DB more.

I love airtime, but I love curves and turns more. And fyi, Diamondback is only 25 feet taller than bull, and the drop is only 7 feet taller than bull. Not that big of a difference.

No shit sherlock! Diamondback looks amazing compared to our little Bull.
SHEESH! I was just pointing it out. LOL.
Sorry, I just wanted to use that term.

I was focusing on Bulls stupid Trims.
