SFOT, Texas Giant is "a mess" but again, was topped off the other day, I'm sure well see that 79degree drop soon. What's everyones takes on the change? Good or bad?
The change is getting me to go down there next year. I can only imagine good things from the change over. If it does work out, there are some other wooden coasters in the chain (Rattler and American Eagle I'm looking at you two) that could use the switch.
My roommate Greg, who well ok old roommate, Who now lives in Texas again, does the TG construction updates on Themeparkreview, says the lift was actually steepened to make the height difference. Which makes more sense than just continueing goin up, as everything else after would have to be more tight.
The change is odd to me, I hope it'll make a better ride. I'm told that TG is rough like Meanstreak but TG is actually fun unlike MS. Haha. The elements on the new TG will obv be unlike anything out there which is def exciting. I know I'm prob gonna get questioned for this but I look at it this way.... SFOT is/was the FIRST SF park backin up to the 60s. This is in all reality(2011), their anniversary were all celebrating, & they're only receiving a revamped ride. I feel like TG is a beverly hills mom, who is receiving plastic surgery to look more hot again. Its just weird this is all they're gonna receive...then again, nothins set in really yet right? They could get somethin else...thomas town maybe? Hmm.
^Agreed, it bugged me about St. Louis. Sure, they just added stuff, but maybe 1 more better ride, and it would get me there again. It's like Cedar Point even thought it's a different chain. They keep on adding bigger additions, and does that park really need all that stuff? If people aren't coming to Cedar Point, the park should ask themselves why. Is another coaster going to get people to come back to the park next year? How much is too much until they figure out there has to be something else that will spike attendance again?
I mean the park only has an inverted B&M, a Wildcat, an airtime galore of Gemini, a bobsled, a rocket coaster, a giga, a hyper, a LSM, a LIM shuttle, a standup, a mine train, a suspended, Corkscrew coaster, an out and back, whatever Mean Streak is - a twister??, a flying bobs, a Tilt-A-Whirl, a Chaos, Giant Frisbee, Skyhawk, multiple antique cars, bumper cars, a carousel - maybe 2, Troika, Ferris Wheel, a Calypso, a Himilaya, a Scrambler, a rocking boat, an Enterprise, a Monster ride, shoot the chutes, rapids ride, and so on.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"

I'm sorry, are you sayin CP, only has these things as a bad thing?! CP is known for bigger badder faster... They just now realized the past couple years familys a good way to go as well. But people from all over the world will STILL come to CP no matter what they add for what they ALREADY HAVE. That park has an amazing line up... Opening day 2009, I was workin TTD & it was a mess, every train rolled back 3-4 times until wed have to unload them...we only shot out 36ppl that day!!!! THIRTY SIX PEOPLE made it over, that's disgusting, but guess what?! People waited for EIGHT hours at a time because they were from nationwide, Ecuador, Austrailia, Britain, Ireland, etc I mean the list went on & on...they were there for that ride only some said. As we know TTD was built in 2003, & to this day draws in people worldwide. They're pretty damn set if you ask me.
Exactly. CP is a destination park and SFSt.L is a regional. I tell people that about CP all the time. The crowds are totally different there than at a regional park because people come from all over and stay multiple days. The only hole I see in CP's lineup is a world class woodie, and I believe it is coming soon, hopefully.
The thing with SF STL is I'm not sure the park needs a hyper. The locals are still going nuts for Batman how many years later? The park does need a good steel coaster with a gimmick (floorless, large stand-up, flyer) that the public goes nuts for. That and some more flats that were made in the last 15 years.
/\ Its not about space its about market. SFSTL (as well as parks like the Great Escape and SFA) have a ton of space for new rides but you're not going to see them adding Intimidator 305 there. Look at parks like SFGAm which appeared to be landlocked and they still managed to build a big waterpark.
I know I have said this before on one of these forums but, it doesn't take a lot to build a coaster or attraction for that matter. Who would have picked SFOGs Goliath to go where it is?! Over bathrooms & roads & midways?! Crazy, but it works, very well after seein it in person. El Toro is on a THIN plot of land but somehow you have this mega structure & its even intertwined with another coaster. CP did it with Mantis havin her go right over Iron Dragon. Another SFGAdv one is in my opinion KK...they used parking lot & revamped a part of the park into a whole new world... I mean the list goes on for rides that utilize alot of area on little spots of land. Let's just say SFGAm would to add b&ms first giga(what a dream ey?) Haha, I'm SURE that everyone would be like WHAT?! Where, & then saw how they could do it, wed all be very surprised. It can happen, will it prob not, but I'm just sayin think big with what you think no space, & there will somehow BE space.
Theres alot of questions for 2011. Will MM get B&Ms first giga? What will chang at sfgam be? Are any SF parks going to get a B&M 4D? Will parks like GE, SFA, and SFDK finally get a new big coaster?
Top 5: 1) El Toro. 2) Maverick. 3) Millenium Force. 4) Diamondback. 5) X2. Coaster Count: 167 (41 Wood, 125 Steel) @Coaster_Cole on Twitter
its called knowing people in the industry who tells me stuff
No one actually knows what's happening................even if you claim to have "inside sources" because I highly doubt you would even hint at posting that kind of information as employees within the company sign strict non-disclosure agreements about presenting confidential information to the media/internet that can result in termination if information is given out that is not supposed to be. So that "Friend of a Friend" (or whoever it is) is basically risking their job/career wether it be with the park or any other company associated with doing business in them. There's my 2 cents on that issue....
The only 2011 project currently underway is the Texas Giant makeover and I highly doubt Weber is going to stop that now...it was the same thing with El Toro/Tatsu and Shapiro really having no control over them.
Any of the 2011 projects have probably been on the table for the past 3-4 years (as is the way with any kind of project)....and at that time, Six Flags had their "undies in a bundle" when it came to their finances so I don't think Shapiro was on the phone with B&M asking them to develop any kind of new attraction. While the company has made progress, they still carry a substancial amount of debt that doesn't need to be added to with any $25 million dollar coasters/prototypes.

These are easy...
1. Never, B&M does not offer Giga Coasters and they probably wont start anytime soon. 2. N/A 3. nope 4. No, not anytime soon
