I stayed there in November 2008 for closing weekend of SF STL. The room itself was fine, it was everything else that was the problem. The hallway looked worse then a freshman dorm at a state college. I counted over 50 beer and hard booze bottles in the hall way, lit cigarettes (mind you, this was 6 am) and various drug items. For breakfast, we were told only rooms in the center area were allowed to have it because they "lock the trouble makers in the outside rooms" out of the pool area. Add to that the manager grabbing a kid by the arm and screaming at him for not pouring his pancake mix fast enough and you have an awful stay.
What sucks about the hotels of that area is there are no cheap ones. Even that dump cost over $50 via Travelocity. Amazingly, it makes it the most expensive room outside of Disney and one at CoasterMania last year, which was also a dump (Best Budget Inn towards the Kalahari area.)
^You consider 50 bucks a night expensive for a room? OK!!
I have stayed at that place a couple of times (quite awhile ago), and while I didn't think it was dirty, it definitely needed some remodeling in the rooms and hallways.
It's pretty reasonable priced since the place includes that whole indoor fun center.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
^I do indeed consider that expensive in the US with internet deals to be found. I have not spent more than $45 and stayed at 3 star or better every time.
The manager alone of the place seems to be the overall problem. The guy is crook, simply said.
Yeah $50 for that kind of room is a little steep. I like paying $60 for Travel Lodges which are always VERY nice and clean (never had a bad experience).
This summer when we drove to Seattle/Vancouver/Edmonton/Winnipeg the cheapest we found in Canada was $120. And that was for a sleeze in Motel. That whole region is very touristy so prices are always very high. South Dakota we stayed at a Econo"Garbage"Lodge at that was $80 (total sh!t). And all the hotels in the Northwest in B.C, Alberta, and Saskatchewan were all over $100.
Also never forget, you can always throw a b!tch fit and negotiate to get the price down if you walk into a hotel after 11pm Always offer to pay in cash and that usually does the trick!
^Cash is a wonderful thing. Also, it never hurts to negotiate with the hotel directly. While I got a better offer elsewhere, The Magic Castle Inn in Orlando area (which is not that bad at all) down to $125 for a week in August last year. If you are not there in the afternoon, a fine place to rest your head at night.
The Best Western Eureka Missouri isnt any better. Dirty doorways, filthy floors tv that gets stuck on XXX adult, dingy pool, a bad hotel room can ruin your entire vacation.
this story sparked my interest and i could not find the Best Western Eureka anymore gee wonder why?! Maybe we should post a forum on this telling other theme park goers what hotels are good and which to pass on is anyone with me?

just an FYI for anyone going to SFStL, about 10-15 mins east of the park on Bowles Ave there is a Motel 6 that's usually under $40-45. It is modern? No, not even close, it's stuck in the 70's. Clean? Easily passable but it's not going to wow you or anything, however it's extremely convenient, cheap and a good place to sleep. That is if you don't stay at the Marriott St. Louis West on Priceline for under $40, though that's about 20-30 min from the park and is sometimes finicky on priceline.

I think that even though I wouldn't have thought that it's the 2nd "dirtiest" in the US, but to me this makes perfect sense. You put a hotel near an amusement park, or some other destination, and it's more about location, location. For this hotel, those people can walk to the park. These hotel people figure that they don't have to put a lot of money into it because it's there to serve a purpose, and that's Six Flags St. Louis. At first, I thought you were talking about the hotel right next to the park (Raddison maybe). Read below:
I actually been to that Days Inn, and I didn't think it was dirty. We did have a problem though, and I think it was having to do with the tv not working, or the remote not working. Wow, this was the 2nd dirtiest in the US. You have to be kidding me though because I heard stories in Florida on the Season Pass Podcast where the guy is like they had bugs in the room. I don't remember seeing any bugs in this hotel at all.

^The Days Inn is not a walking hotel due to the major road to get the park and it is almost 2 miles away. The only reason to stay there for location is if you don't want to drive 20-30 minutes after a day at the park.

You are saying this like it's a bad thing.
when traveling with young people yeah it's kinda not a good thing to have blaring through the tv speakers

They gotta learn at some point. Sex is harmless love. Violence kills....

I know that. At first, I was talking about the Radisson (or what's right next to the park). That's my first paragraph, and than the second part is about the Days Inn part. I just didn't erase the first part, but still even 2 miles isn't that far from the park. It's not walking distance as the Radisson is (or Holiday Inn, or whatever that place is now), but close enough.

Travelocity doesn't know what dirty is. I've stayed at that place, and I thought it was plenty clean. Plus, they barely advertised that Pool Center in the middle of the hotel which was a great surprise to me and my buddy.
Again, I've stayed in FAR dirtier hotels. I would go so far as to recommend it for a cheap place to stay.

Looks like Six Flags got wind of this story and are now filing a lawsuit against the hotel for brand name infringement. This wouldn't have mattered obviously until the hotel is ranked 2nd worst.
Can't say I blame them. You don't want your name attached to this.
When I went to the park in 2006 and 2008, I stayed at the *Green* Holiday Inn. The Blue ones aren't so great, because I think they are express, but the Green ones are great! Although a night stay is over 115$...
If you are paying so low for a hotel, you should always expect the best
Best room I ever stayed in was on I think the 17'th or 18'th floor of the downtown Miami Hyatt Regency, had a huge balcony overlooking the ocean, just an awesome room in general. The list price on the website at a discounted rate with paying up front was $240. Got it on Priceline for $23. It cost more to park my car there than it did for the room
So I always expect the best for my $$.
Also since i have alot of patience and check hotel rates often, I snagged a €150+ room at a Holiday Inn in Hasselt Belgium for €12. I gave them a break as the website, which was the official holiday inn website and not some crooked 3'rd party site also had a €9 room up, but I decided to go with the €12 executive king suite. Best explanation the extremely impressed though not entirely happy hotel clerk could come up with is they changed computer systems a few months earlier and I caught it in the few minutes or so before everything got set.
