Kings Dominion "Intimidator" - New Giga Coaster 2010

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Its pretty much a over sized mega light. Now, if you are watching the animation of course it looks boring. It does not account for the g-force and sensation of speed. If this were a hyper, it might be a little boring. However, the sensation of speed will be incredible on this ride. Not to mention the airtime on the first bunny hill.

Also, if you watch the animation you can see it takes the transitions pretty fast where as Millennium Force is a pretty drawn out ride. So I think the ride looks great.

There was a POV* animation on TPR* that someone made in NL* that looked really good.
It'll pack a punch thats for sure.

I like Top Thrill Dragster even though it's a shorter ride than this, and it's taller and faster than this, but to me it's like on this ride you have the big drop like Top Thrill, and than a lot of down to the ground stuff. Would I ride this? Sure, I would but it just seems like they could have done better. Kennywood's roller coaster to me looks much better.

Between the 3 new additions we know about at parks, it would be 1) Kennywood 2) Holiday World with water coaster and this one would be 3rd for me.

For this year, the two rides that got my attention were Diamondback, and the Magic Waters waterslide. Diamondback I thought of as okay, and that's probably because I didn't get the massive airtime only getting a middle seat (They assign you.), and the Magic Waters waterslide just reminded me of a smaller Tornado.

Heres what i have to say about this one...

being a millennium force crew member, I am estatic to see another Intamin giga coaster! Im so glad the "rumors" were true. I cannot believe how much of a combo this is between millie and maverick...everyday when im working, ill spiel about the constant "battle" between millie and mav on who is better. & almost every time i hear "...if maverick had millenniums first drop..." People love that millie is a traditional coaster on a grand scale. It is amazing. However i wish the hills were shorter so the train flew over them instead of them being so drawn out and taller than they need to be. I feel like CedarFair knows about this "battle" and incorperated some elements of the two. Thats just me...

This coaster is going to be incredible but im fishy on some things. Millenniums running time usually comes back logged into the comp around 67sec. Im sorry but for Intimidator to be 5,100ft long vs. millie's 5, 695ft of track...theres no way youre gonna have a 3min ride. ESPECIALLY when its takin everything low to the ground. Millie also has 9cars per train running with three trains almost all the time(unless we transfer for a bad wheel, etc.) usually running a 1200hr. Intimidator305 will have 8cars per train with 2trains and they think theyre gonna pull a 1,350hr?! i dont see how. the rrstraint system sucks but may help them out,LG wise(large guest). We have a lot of problems with the seatbelts at millie. at Maverick however, youre rarely havin to ask someone to exit the train due to the seatbelt restriction.

Now if intimidator is gonna be a no loose article policy ride, this will also further its riders per hour seeing they wont be waiting on people to place items in bins. hats and sunglasses are gonna have to go down your shirt or in a cargo pocket, just like millie.

Im disappointed by the appearance of intimidator as well. Millennium is BEAUTIFUL. in my opinion, the most eye appealing coaster ever built. its structural standpoint is so amazing. its just very well designed. Intimidator is gonna have TWO supports up that lift.....?!....it looks cool but im still wondering how itll truly work out. They may have to pull a WT and V2. haha. hop not though.

im very proud of CedarFair giving this great of an attraction to any of their parks that is not CP! a coaster on this scale really has been bulit anywhere since 2005 since KK. weve seen alot in the 100-230ft range. Im very excited and will NOT miss opening day. I have a facebook page about it even...im lame, yes

Parks say rides are 3 minutes all the time when in reality they are nowhere near that. I remember reading SUFs press release and the park said the ride is 3 minutes. Same thing goes with capacity, the theoretical capacity released is if every seat is filled on every train and the train it sent on interval for an entire hour. This ride is obviosley designed to handle large guests better than MF but I can guarentee it wont be getting anywhere near 1350, though that wont stop it from being the highest capacity ride at KD. Ill use SUF as an example again, its capacity is 1100pph but in reality it normally gets around 800. Heck, X at SFMM's advertised capacity is 1600 and even with 2 trains that thing was getting like 400-500pph.

If you remember, I don't know if this was during the announcement or whatever, but isn't that why the track looks so different and not Inatmin like? The thicker track can hold more so it requires less supports which ultimately cuts some costs.

What I don't get about the looks of it is why it is red and yellow? It's named after a person that was known for all black.

Wow, i didnt see a Giga Coaster coming, especially with CF... are they trying compete with thereselves or what? Since this is the first Giga in a while i would Guarantee it a top 5 spot in the Golden Ticket Awards in 2010. I might have to take a trip out there just to see how this is.
Top 5: 1) El Toro. 2) Maverick. 3) Millenium Force. 4) Diamondback. 5) X2.

Am I only one that noticed those guys sitting on the track don't look like they should be there? He's not even wearing a harness.

There not supposed to be there. They are urban explorers. But they didn't get caught so it's really the parks fault for not catching them.
