Seaworld San Antonio 12/30

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby bobbinbop20 on January 3rd, 2010, 4:49 pm
Ah Seaworld, Really the reason I wanted to come to San Antonio. Since they opened at 10, and SFFT opened at 3 we obviously started our day here. This proved to be a great family park, seeing as its more focused on little kids, with the addition of a few thrill rides for the older crowd.

If your looking for alot of rides, dont expect it from Seaworld, of course there more catered to the marine life, which I think it's cool to learn something new about the animals here, plus my sister is a complete animal lover so she had something to do except complain about the rides that I like and she hates.

The interactions between the animals and trainers is pretty cool, you get to see the trainers swim with a killer whale, scuba divers feeding fish and you can even feed dolphins for $5, which we did, and it was pretty interesting.

On the thrill side of things they have a pretty fantastic Morgan "mini hyper" that gives boat loads airtime and is actually one of my favorite coasters as of now.

Theres also a BTR clone, called The Great White, which some people say is more intense then the other clones because it has a shorter track length, but to me I found Goliath at SFFT to be the better BTR clone in San Antonio.

The only other real "Thrill Ride" is Journey to Atlantis, which quite frankly I really really liked, it was pretty cool going backward down the mini drop and then having a nice splashdown at the end, even if the splash was pretty weak. Plus it also counts as a credit! Win Win situation!

Overall I was pretty impressed with my Sea World Experience, even if they were only running one train on Steel Eel and Great White, they were both walkons throughout the day so it didn't matter, the only thing we had to wait for was the shamu express, which is a kiddie coaster

They had a Christmas version of the Shamu show, which was still cool, but I really wanna see the Believe show.... oh well, next time I guess.

Anyway, a trip to Seaworld San Antonio is definitely worth it! Well in my opinion anyway!

Here we are.

Time for Seaworlds Christmas Celebration!

I like the shamu trains

Image

Image

Image
This was Jaime's 100th credit, I thought she was never gonna get there, she doesnt ride anything she knows shes gonna hate, for example SLC's Boomerangs, B&M standups, and Floorless coasters, and most woodies

Image

Image

Image
Why do Morgan trains look so weird, you can barely see over them if your short

Image
All of the supports on Steel Eel are numbered, this is number 39, obviously

Image
Its gotta a great first drop in the back seat

Image

Image

Image
who doesn't love a penguin!

Image
Penguins, and my favorite airline, win win!

Image
Texas Splash Down, didn't ride, looked similar to Loggers Run with its double down drop

Image
No lies

Image
If you didn't know by now, B&M is my favorite ride manufacturer

Image

Image
Aren't B&M's just awesome, I dont care if most are similar, there all so much fun

All hail the Steel eel airtime gods

Image

Image
ACER! ACER! ACER! NERD!!!

Image

Image

Image

Image
I can assume this is what Magic Mountains is gonna look like when its done being painted

Image

Image
The shamu show was freaking crowded! Get to this one way early if you want a good seat!

Image
nice decor

Image
whale

Image
This little stunt was very impressive

Image
They should change this show to watch Shamu eat, thats all he did!

Image
We moved to the aisle when we knew shamu was gonna splash, yeah we were forced to sit in the splash zone because that's all that was left seating wise

Image
I think Seaworld has 6 killer whale, they kept switching them out, the most that were in the pool at one time was 3

Image
oh dear

Image
come on Shamu you can do it

Image

Image
I love the Shouka show at SFDK, and this one was even better!

Image
Now the sun had come out so it was a good time to ride journey

Curious whether or not you liked Steel Eel and whether its like most Morgan Hypers. The two I've been on have been more boring than any coaster at SFGAm. Your thoughts?

Steel Eel gets much more positive reviews than its bigger siblings, similar to how Goliath and Expedition GeForce in Europe are considered better than the larger Intamin's around here.

is it just me or does that steel eel have the most random looking support system? is that a morgan trademark or somethin?
What's really funny, is that you think I'm from the GP (General Public). When indeed, I most likely know far more about the coaster, as I've rode it multiple times.
Nope, Most other Morgans have Arrow style scaffolding all over the place, especially when something is over about 100 feet tall or so. Observe.. http://cache.rcdb.com/pictures/picmax/p6401.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Seaworld must have asked for it to look like that, not sure why though, though being built in 1999 it could be post- Steve Okomoto, maybe someone else did the design and perfers that style also.

Also the park looks a heck of a lot different now than when I was last there in 2001. And it's to bad that Atlantis doesn't have the airtime hill that the one at Europa Park in Germany has, it's the best part of the ride.

thats not arrow type scaffolding in the photos the OP put up. they just look like they are going at random angles to hold up the track.
