CHANG WATCH: The Official Topic

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby BrianPlencner on December 13th, 2009, 8:56 pm
David,

That's all I have at this point. Really not much else to take pictures of, as you cannot get real close to the park.

If I was better at night shots, I would try to get one of STT lit up with the lights in the shape of a tree, or the tree and lights on Eagle. I'll see if I can try to do that a day this week coming home from work. I don't own a tri-pod, which is what you would need to do it right.

So, I can take some, but not going to say they will look good! :D

Isn't it stupid of them to wait till it starts snowing to begin taking it down? Doesn't seem like they've done much else around the park. I just wish that the "prohibited" fences were closer. Is it "illegal" for an employee to get pictures? Is it visible from the highway (since it's much higher)?

Sorry for the double post.

Notice that around go-karts there is a fence. Maybe we're just getting a HH expansion after all. That would be terrible, just terrible.

^What's wrong with a Hurricane Harbor expansion? It's one of the most popular parts of the park and gets very crowded during the hot summer days.

It is against park policy for an employee to take photos of construction, behind the scenes, ect. and distribute them on a public forum or anywhere else.

And david, how would an HH expansion be terrible? Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it's terrible.

Don't jump on me here, You and I both know that the public would rather a new roller coaster, than a HH expansion. I know that it brings money, but We haven't gotten a new coaster in 8 years. We NEED a new coaster.

^^And we're getting another one this year called Little Dipper. We really don't need another coaster. Would it be nice? Yes. Is it necessary? No.

8 years?!? We've gotten 5 coasters from 2001 on(granted we lost two in that same timeframe). Now with the Little Dipper, then possibly Chang... Not to mention an entire waterpark, Mardi Gras, and Wiggles, I don't think we have much to complain about when there are a few other Six Flags out there that have gotten a whole lot of nothing over the past 8 years.

I would LOVE it if we got Chang, it's always been on my 'list'. However, whether we get a water slide or a flat ride, I guess something is better than nothing. :)
Finally Coaster Season!!

I just love how people say we "NEED" a new coaster. What a ridiculous statement.

^ All we really need is another Giant looper (Floorless would be nice) & The Coaster collection will be almost complete. We do NEED another Muscle coaster (Rajin Cajun, Little Dipper, & The Dark Knight Don't Count) to make up for the Shockwave & Deja Vu loss, & to keep thrill seekers coming to the park.

Agreed, one Giant Looper (Chang) and I'll be more than satisfied with SFGAm's Coaster Variety.

8 years, huh? I think you just mixed up Six Flags America with Six Flags GREAT America. It's ok, it happens.

Chang would do the job very nicely, especially if it was converted to a floorless. I don't know if that is possible though.

^ Chang will almost 100% be converted into a floorless, as the only thing that needs changing are the trains, and the programing. If it isn't I'll be quite surprised.

^And you need to convert the station as well. I'm still not so sure about chang becoming a floorless just because of the whole "heartline" issue. Has this kind of conversion happened before?

^Strange, I googled that to see if there was another coaster that was converted....

The First result that showed was a news report of Changs removal.

The film kinda sucked. If you've never been on the physical ride ever, the motion benches were pretty cool and unique. Though you could always smell burnt hydraulic fluid in the theater. I personally like the smell, but I know it was offputting for some.

Dino Island II 3-D was better. Stargate I think was worse, and Supertits, I mean superstition was what it is :)

^You know that you loved it! It was fun, I got to ride it last in 2004, I waited for an hour, when I once got on a walk-on. Depends on the crowd.
