Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Holiday World wrote:As you may remember, we provided The Gravity Group with a testing ground for their Timberliner prototype last spring.

And today we announce that indeed we will have the first set of Timberline trains on The Voyage in time for the start of the 2010 season.

These things look pretty cool.
I'm very interested to see how they compare to the PTC's airtime wise with these restraints.

While I'm sure they will track much better than the PTCs, I really wish the final design would have looked a little less futuristic. They don't look like wood coaster trains, and I'm not sure I like the lapbar set-up

I've never been on the voyage, but I've heard its gotten rough. I just hope these trains turn out to be fantastic and not ruin the ride

Now if only Six Flags could add these to Viper and Eagle.

Less Maintance + Higher RPH + Better Restraints= I Don't Get why They Haven't Added them Yet.

^ Cost, unproven trains, cost, Viper really has no issues with the PTC trains at all and cost.

"The Voyage’s two new trains, which will each seat 28 riders, will be manufactured in Indianapolis. The Gravity Group is headquartered in Cincinnati."

2 trains?

Also these trains look FUGLY! and uncomfortable, I heard from some people that these trains were supposed to be nicely padded, but all I see is molded foam, which is not soft at all (think the backrests on Eagle and Viper). Lapbars don't look entirely pleasant either, they look like Xcar lapbars which come down and painfully crush you during any sort of G-force. Hopefully HW doesn't sell the PTC's to fast :)

Either way looks like I'm a lock for HWN, I'm a glutton for this kind of stuff.

Thankfully, the lap bars are supposed to lock 100% in place and not collapse upon the rider during the ride. The other details I heard about the trains make them sound promising. Of course, no one will know until they're done and up and running. I hope they turn out well - either way, it is kind of silly of HW to buy new trains for a ride that's not that old and really isn't in that bad of shape. *shrugs*

There is a good interview here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0M6z8pSjGQ&feature=player_embedded where Korey from TGG explains some of the design behind the Timberliners.

They can't be any more comfortable as the ones on Terminator Salvation the ride. They are like riding on a cloud. Seriously, I think I could sleep on one of those suckers.

They aren't running yet, and they won't be for HWN.

Every attendee must sign the following Code of Conduct on the HoliWood Nights registration form: I understand my registration for this event and signature above constitute acceptance of the following terms: It is my responsibility to follow posted and verbal safety rules at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari without exception, including (but not limited to) not attempting to circumvent the safety features of the rides. I understand that some rider behaviors are so obviously unsafe that posting them is not a necessity, and so agree that I will use caution and conservative judgment in riding. I understand that failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in me being escorted out of, and banned from, Holiday World & Splashin' Safari.

LMAO. The GP acts fine during the day but if you are a coaster enthusiast and come to Holliwood Nights you must sign the waiver that says you will not tamper with the restraints .

No, we don't "staple," but lap bars will rest on your lap (or tum-tum, as the case may be)

"...and because one of you idiots flew out we are now specially describing how we check the lapbars on the flyer in hopes to prevent the inevitable b*tching that occurs when we actually do what we should be doing."

To me that is like a slap in the face to the enthusiast community. As a music fan when I go to concerts I dont to sign a waiver saying "I will not go onstage and try to ride Rob Halfords harley" and when I go to a basketball game I do not sign a waiver saying "I will not throw a beer at Ron Artest." I dont need a description of the lapbar-to-lap variance, I know the lapbar has to be down before the train is sent. Just because a few idiots think its their god given right to be riding coasters without restraints doesnt mean most feel that way. I am not complaining about this, just trying to make a general observation. Im sure its a great event and HW are fantastic hosts, if someone wants to argue about how far down thier lapbar is send them to me, I am pretty good at the art of stapeling.

Will gave us a "wonderful" speech about safety tonight before ERT. We get it, stop treating us all like morons, only half the people there are.

Mike graham and Will Koch (Jr.) take the first ride on the new Timberliners. Other than missing a few cars still, they are apparently ready to go for next year.

They said the new trains will actually take off a few seconds. It's probably slow in the video because of cold, wind, lack of weight, ect.

I am very excited for these trains. I sat in one last year at HWN, but to get to ride them on the ride itself this year will be so exciting!
