Knott’s Berry Farm will be replacing the existing “Screamin’ Swing” ride with “Demon Drop”, in the area previously occupied by “Vertigo.” Demon Drop will be 131 ft. tall and consist of a 4-person enclosure that rises on tracks to the top of a tower before descending into a horizontal slide above the midway before returning to the starting point. Demon Drop installation is scheduled to begin on January 4, 2010.
Im glad that they didn't decide to scrap this one just yet, having rode it a week ago I completely loved it!
I love Demon Drop! I've always loved first generation free-falls from the first time I rode the Edge here at Great America, and was glad that Cedar Point was close enough to ride this. This sucks- while I'm happy the ride won't get scrapped, Knott's is too far away for me.
I've always liked Intamin 1st gen towers. They may be old and rough and scary as all hell, but thats what makes them fun . Im glad to see at least its being relocated instead of removed.
This is real dumb. On top of putting in Demon Drop, they are taking out the Screamin' Swing ride. How old can that ride be to take it out unless they are moving it?

Demon Drop was one of main reasons I went to Cedar Point. Of course, their coasters are awesome, but there's no ride experience anywhere like a first generation freefall. It feels like you're on a possessed elevator that just pushed you off a building! By the way, I heard that the Demon Drop uses spare parts from our old "Edge," since it was Mr Hyde's Nasty Fall at Geauga Lake.
Anyone know how much this is going to be to deconstruct, move, and reconstruct? I'm deeply regretting not riding Demon Drop when I went to Cedar Point last year now.

I thought I already made a post to this topic but apparently it didn't go through....?
Well this was the crazy "rumor" at the park this year that once again Demon drop & chaos were leaving. I was asked where I had heard that DD was goin to Knotts & to later keep my mouth shut so it wouldn't spread. The crew told us they replaced some brakes, put new parts in etc. so she'd be good & fresh for Cali. I didnt know what to believe seein when you work at CP, you hear stories from both sides of the tracks...guests & employees.
Now that this is true, I'm upset cause my favorite non-coasters in the park are Demondrop, chaos, & maxair.
..Then again as some have said, good to know its bein moved not scrapped....oh shockwave.
I hope they don't remove Chaos too. Maybe, with Demon Drop leaving they wouldn't want to get rid of 2 rides.

^ Why would it be an upcharge attraction? That comment doesn't even make sense. I think if they would've moved it to an area that hasn't had one of these rides before or at least not in the recent past, there would be great interest. However, SFMM just tore their freefall down, so this ride won't be anything people in that area haven't seen before. I do think people that liked Freefall at MM would be happy to have the ride returning to the area. I was hoping and praying that a small, family-owned park like Little Americka here in Wisconsin, which has done an awesome job restoring and preserving classic rides would buy it. I even talked to the owner of the park last year about it, and he said he would be interested if he could swing it cost-wise. (By the way, when Great America was going to tear down Whizzer a few years ago for Superman, he was in talks with Six Flags about buying it, but he said they kept dickering with him about price until it was out of his range and he couldn't come to an agreement. He said that they were just going to scrap it anyway, but as soon as an interested buyer came forward, the price went up.)
