Cedar Point 2009

Let us know how your day at the park was.

See some of you young'ns weren't around (at least in the enthusiast world) during the coaster war of the late 90's early 2000's. During that time, you couldn't go online without hearing about a new coaster. See the first time I went to the point Magnum XL 200 was one of the biggest coasters there...and I beleive it was ranked #1. Then when CP announced Millennium Force the coaster world went ape s**t! That was ALL you heard about and saw about online.

Then when the ride opened, it was all about getting there THAT year ASAP! And whenever people rode it it was always "Holy shit that was the best coaster ever"! I got to ride it opening year in the beginning of the summer. And my first ride experience on it was unforgettable....it was the biggest coaster out there at the time and the best.

Now a days, people just go to the point and just go ride it. It lost all of its hype that it ever had. I ride it and I still feel the same way about the ride as I did before. It's a great ride, it just needs to be appreciated.

I beg to differ, Millennium Force is just a big waste of space, and hardly does anything, everyone thinks its so great because its 310ft, there's absolutely no force to it at all. Millennium Forceless is what it should be called, i'll take raging bull anyday.

And raptor is also horrible, there's no way its better then BTR just because its taller and longer and faster, blah blah blah that ride is crappy to!

Now i wonder if you have ever rode the ride?

Forceless? are you really being serious? I get spots at the bottom of the drop each time. You must just hold a grudge or something, considering i enjoy both parks and both rides. But comparing Bull and Force ISN'T a comparison.

You feel like you are going straight up the lift on Force, it uses a cable lift (I can probably make a few phone calls on Bulls lift), the drop is 15 degrees sharper and the drop feels forever. The overbanked turns actually make you feel like you are doing an inversion. Not to mention the speed is substantial compared to Bull. Maybe you dont like speed and height but I think that is what most of us look for.

I bet if you survey 100 people about the two, you will be hard pressed to find mass love for Bull over Force.

Same with Raptor, what is the number one complaint about Batman? Its length, less than a minute? I think ill take more track on a ride like Raptor whose components almost mirror Batman except it throws in a Cobra Roll and a Helix at the end.

I dont see how either Six Flags ride is better. I love my park, but it is inferior ride wise.

Oh and ill make sure to go watch the Looney Toons parade rather then Hot Summer Lights with fireworks and flamethrowers at night at Cedar Point. Along with the Starlight Experience and the Beach to hang out on.

I have the same problems with MF and Bull, they both have great drops but are relatively forceless after it. Actually Bull with the trims off, I prefer to MF (though thats a rarity, and Bull running normally is boring).

I do prefer BTR to Raptor though. Of all the inverts ive ridden (including Raptor, Alpengiest, Montu, Dragons) BTR continues to be my favorite, especially the ones at GADV and LaRonde. Total positive g machines. In terms of the debate: Its silly to say SFGAm's coaster collection is better than CPs because its not. But ill take Magic Mountain and Great Adventure's collections over CPs any day of the week, no contest.

I've been on MF and Bull, and neither of them are as good as everyone says they are. Papas has it right, after the first drop neither of the coasters deliver very much in terms of forces.

Batman is a great invert. I still like DD:Ice better just because of the awesome effects the ride's theming and seeing the other train come straight for you in the front row, but BTR is so intense, and raptor so isn't.

Although I will say that after riding Alpengeist again this summer that thing seemed to be flying compared to how it normally runs. Really really good rides on that thing.

I've ridden Bull and MF in the back many times and MF does indeed have a lot more forces on its turns and the bottom of drops. Bull has absolutely none except a little on the first hill and the last helix which packs a lot for going so slow. I never got a chance to ride Raptor this year, but I'm guessing I didn't miss anything. Great PTR.
