As someone who's been to LaRonde I can confirm the obvious and say this was the absolute last thing on earth they needed. Their B&M invert is awesome, this is a giant step backwards in terms of quality in a park that is severly lacking it in any form. I understand Six Flags in general only cares about short-term attendance increases these days, but this is really pushing that envelope .
Why is it pushing any envelope? Its a new ride and it will be a hit. Are we saying that once you get a B&M you cannot step back? You have to get things B&M or greater? I think ANY Park Guest should be happy to get any coaster! Believe it or not, most park guests are not going to Six Flags, or Cedar Fair parks for the NEXT Best Thing, or the Greatest of the Greatest, there going there to Ride Rollercoasters and have fun reguardless of what kind it is or how new it is, or how current the track layout is.
At a point when SF is filing bankruptcy, most parks would rather get Something, over nothing. Look at people saying "Why does Six Flags Need CHANG when we have Iron Wolf"... Because most park guests are not Enthusiasts Disecting the park for what it needs and what it doesn't. Chang will get people excited, im excited, so what if we have that and iron wolf, A New Coaster at Six Flags is great, we need more coasters, it gets kinda boring, jumping from the same group of rides all the time.

La Ronde already has a B&M invert. I'm just saying I heard from plenty of cast members last season that guests would ask why the new ride was Ragin' Cajun in a box? I agree it's always good to get a new coaster however you can't insult the observational skills of park guests. People will ride it and realize it's similar to Vampire but Vampire is better. I don't understand why they didn't just install it at TGE, I think that's the only SF park which doesn't have either an invert or SLC. Especially considering it's been sitting there for 4 years.
Think about this. The two most popular rides at SFGAm are a B&M hyper and a B&M invert. Do you think a crappy SLC would be a good addition to SFGAm? The most popular rides at LaRonde are a B&M hyper and a B&M invert (and Goliath is better than Raging Bull). Why would it be a good addition to LR? If it were something not as good but different than it may be worth building, but there is nothing different from Vamp other than it sucks and Vamp is awesome.
Plus I just wish the world would move on from Vekoma SLCs, roller coasters dont need to kick the crap out of your head anymore. This would be a good addition for LaRonde 15 years ago not now.
Yes, actually i DO think this would make a great addition to the park, we need another suspended coaster other then a flying superman and Batman! I think it would do just fine at our park. The Ride is suspended like Batman, or the B&M Suspended they already have but its NOT The same layout, which makes it unique and better and people will ride it
Now I am convinced you have never ridden an SLC. If you think a ride most people go on once and have no interest in ever riding again because its brutally rough is a good addition to SFGAm then I think your in the minority. I dont even mind rough coasters, used to marathon Shockwave all the time, but if I have an SLC credit and revisit a park I dont go anywhere near it.
No actually, i have NOT ridden one, but its still a new coaster, with a different layout then all the rest, so it would be fun! Ever Tried riding a rollercoaster without comparing it to anyone else and enjoy it for its Uniqueness? Try it sometime, you will find there are MANY Great Coasters out there that people do not ride because they claim its "The Same" as such and such! That is just my personal opinion, no matter what park i go to, i can enjoy EVERY ride reguardless of how Similar it is to something else, because its different! Now i can see riding BTR at Great America, then going to another park with the exact Replica, thats different! Just Saying!
^exactly, it is also a clone and the next closest park in Canada has an SLC so really there is no need for another one as it would've been a much better investment for another park that does not yet have a roller coaster which is inverted or suspended
I thought adding a corporate sound system to the Six Flags parks was the absolute last thing requested, along with the HUGE LCD TV's and commercials in the midway. Sure miss Premier.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.
Hear ye, hear ye: "After 45 years, Six Flags has stopped smoking."

Buying an SLC is like buying a Wii, and then going out and buying a Gamecube. A Wii can play all of the Gamecube games and it has ports for Gamecube controllers, so it's pointless...
...just like installing an SLC in a park with a B&M Invert.
Ride every SLC I go on and compare the uniqueness of it. I must ride it at least 3 times so I can make sure I do not have a bias opinion. "Hey look, this SLC had three trees under the drop instead of versus one". "Wait, or was it the other three SLCs"?
For anyone who hasnt been to LaRonde or Quebec, it's all french out there, road signs are in french, park signs are in french, everyone speaks french. This ride is plenty good for them. Should tear out their batman and send that to Great Escape. Damn cheese eating surrender monkeys
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
I'm new here and my home park happens to be La Ronde.
The reason why we're getting the SLC? Six Flags is stuck! When Six Flags (under the old regime) purchased La Ronde back in 2001, they were contractually obligated to also invest something like 90 millions dollars canadian over a 5 or 6 years period. Things started very strong, but the years Six Flags was going to do the big "Six Flags conversion", the union representing the park "blue collar employees" would threaten to strike or cause major troubles. It got so bad they actually cancelled the hyper coaster and conversion in 2004 and we instead got the Intamin Shoot The Chutes planned for Great Escape. Great Escape got our conversion budget and made an hotel with indoor waterpark out of it. Since Goliath in 2006, Six Flags been investing the bare minimum and deferring the forced investments. This year, no choice. They got around 10 millions left to invest and I guess they didn't want to go to court over that. So, the solution was to take the biggest coaster they had in storage and install it... Too bad it happened to be a SLC!
The SLC spent the summer getting refurbished by Martin & Vleminckx (the canadian company that builds and retrack wooden coasters) and got repainted the same colors as the Michigan Adventure SLC. The one question are the trains: are we getting the new soft restraints trains like Morey's or SFNE will refurbish the 2 Astroworld trains? They were sent there to be used as part donors for that park SLC.
