Shoot the Rapids CP, 2010

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby CoastsToCoasters on September 3rd, 2009, 10:04 am
After the removal of white water landing(logflume 1982-2005), theres been rumors that CP was lookin to who else...intamin to fill that loss. I guess in the way theyre true. It looks like a logflume but river plunge as well. Im not all too thrilled about it, but it definatley will be a great addition to the park.

So they are actually theming a ride, and still using the generic ride model name  Major props to the Cedar Fair creative people there.

Its to "re create" the old shoot the rapids ride.

I think it looks pretty decent, however by the looks of the image it seems like the small drop is the last one and the biggest is the first.

Umm, this looks really lame. I thought judging by the name, and looking at the log boats that there actually be rapids after the drops like Roaring Rapids, but that doesn't look like the case to me. There just isn't enough to this ride in my opinion. It's like a Shoot the Chutes twice (Splash Water Falls). What I really want to see is something like Roaring Rapids, but have a good big drop that gets you wet. I know at Animal Kingdom that one has a drop, but it doesn't get you wet all.

It's a great idea and it looks like a good ride.

However, considering the ride it's directly adjacent too...

This addition kind of makes me wonder why they even took down White Water Landing in the first place. Minus a few themed elements and an extra drop, this ride doesn't seem all that different! Very disappointed, I thought they removed White Water Landing to help keep current with the new water ride designs of today. :?

At the very last this log ride will have it's own filtered and chlorinated water supply, way more than what can be said for the old log ride. At least you wont get off of this one reeking of fish and sewage.

Why take down the old one? Well, what I can see is that rides have problems in which we might not know of. That ride had to be an old ride like our Loggers, or Yankee, and maybe it was leaking like our Splash Water Falls. That problem I had with that ride is that you didn't get wet (at least I didn't the time I went on it). So, this one maybe you will actually get wet, but with a name like that I'm expecting some rapids, and not just up down, and up down ride.

It looks like it will be a good addition to frontiertown and as I recall from Brian Edwards NCC presentations of many past years they were really trying to focus on getting traffic back in frontiertown and I think that Skyhawk, Maverick and Shoot the Rapids are a great way to start. I'm holding out to see if at some point within the next 2 years they would remove Mean Streak and use that massive plot of land for something awesome (racing or dueling GCIs? I'd like that)
I'm irreverent and stuff...
