SFMM July 8

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby BP317 on July 9th, 2009, 4:02 am
A few notes

-Terminator and X2's audio did not work for us :x. We could clearly hear while in line for X2 many of the trains before us it did work, bad luck I guess.

-Queue misters, holy hell. They are so dense in some lines and some of them are broken resulting in spraying people with water getting them soaking wet

-Tatsu did not open with the park and had a big crane next to it most of the day, then to our surprise opened in the afternoon.

Rode the Orient Express for the first (and probably last) time just to say ive ridden it. It was neat I guess, but would probably take less time to just walk up the side of the hill.

Image
First coaster of the day was Ninja.

Image
This guy was going up to random people and yelling "HIYA!!!" and scaring the crap out of them. Was pretty good queue line entertainment [see video].

Image
This big crane was there working on Tatsu.

Image
The Skytower had some high ridership

Worlds tallest heaping pile of s[teel]. At least it looks cool.

Love this corner of the park.

Riddler had a bit of a line

It really irks me how they have crowd control staffed at the bottom of the stairs and they dont even prevent this. Who wants to be stuck in this rediculous station when its 85 degrees, what a joke.

Image
Batmans line was much more tolerable.

Image
Though its strange how theming tends to randomly dissapear from this line.

Image
It was a walkon though!

It was nice going from the big crowds at Terminator/DejaVu/Riddler to the empty as always Scream.

Image

Image
Colossus running one side like always.

Image
The Morgan trains werent running too bad (not that they were any good, just not too bad).

Image
Door randomly left open with big FLAMMABLE logo inside.

Image
I had just gotten raped by the misters in Goliath's line

Image
RIP

Image
Decided to take a spin on Revolution for some strange reason (probably because it was a walk on).

Image
The heavily rehabbed train.
This brings me to my next point, Revolution is absolutely terrible and I hate it more every ride. It is by far the worst excuse for a Schwarzkopf coaster on the face of this earth and if I ever go with someone who needs the credit will probably just be sitting out from now on instead of taking a beating from the terrible restraints and painful brakes. Which is sad cause im sure at one point it was a great ride.

Image
Didnt this just have a huge crane working on it a few hours ago??

Image
Yes, Tatsu opened and ran with both stations (though still only 2 trains)

Image
This scene brings back memories of Shockwave at SFGAm.

Image

Image

Image
So while Viper is running half empty trains its neighbor had a 1 1/2 hour line

Image

Image
Despite the onboard audio not working it was still a great ride, and it was pitch dark when we rode (the line took forever after the split)

Thank god I only had to wait 5 minutes for X2 all three times I rode!! The though of the wait after the break scares me, and thats why I love scream! so much, I guess no one likes it, but I LOVE it :D

Also, when I rode there BTR it seemed awful to me compared to the one at gam. But who knows maybe I just had a bad ride

They really should consider moving Scream to another park since it doesn't hardly generate lines at SFMM.

If it was moved to a park like SFGAm (which lacks a huge looping coaster), I am sure it would be a hit.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Why is Scream so unpopular? I would expect it to have fairly long lines.

^My guess would be its location. It sits off the beaten path next to Colossus which doesn't generate much line also.

The easiest way to find a place at SFGAm to put it, would be to just build it on the employee parking lot. Just create some netting below so the employees can park underneath it. Heck, Scream is a parking lot coaster right now so it would be right at home. :)

Scream! isnt that popular party because of its location but also because its not really anything special in comparison to other rides there. In the TR also notice that Viper had an empty station and X2's line was 1 1/2 hours, and those 2 rides are right next to eachother. That park has a few rides that generate really long lines (X2, Terminator, DejaVu, Tatsu, Riddler) then for the most part the others normally arent too bad (except for STE which is because of horrendous capacity).

yep its all about the location of scream! and like previously stated it doesn't do anything to special, it would fit in perfect at sfgam tho!

SCREAM is the worst B&M coaster and needs to be destroyed.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

^No, Scream is a decent coaster that probably needs some TLC.

Probably wheel problems. The layout and transitions on the ride are just fine like any other Beemer.

Scream does rattle quite a bit, I dont remember the whole story but its been that way since it opened because SF tried building it on the cheap and quick to get the record from CP (which resulted in not putting the finishing touches B&M reccomends to smoothen out the ride). Its a decent ride though.

^It has to be something with the trains. Unless the track has potholes in it (which it doesn't), it's not rattling because of the track.

On new coasters they go through and smoothen out track sections like this before doing the clearance inspection. This is Kumali at Flamingoland, I remember seeing pictures of them doing this on Silver Bullet but couldnt find them now because that was years ago. They didnt do this on Scream due to cheapness and the ride ended up being not as smooth as most other B&Ms.
