Roaring Rapids

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Around the 24 of October I rode the train and i saw that Roaring Rapids was completely drained, and wasn't refilled (as far as I know) until the last weekend of Fright Fest. But the ride wasn't running and it was just calm, no waves or anything.....does anyone know what happened? I wanted to ride it this Fright Fest but never got the chance. :?

I noticed that too. It's probably staffing issues.

It could have been mechanical problems.

But I did find out where they store the water from the top.

I don't think they wouldn't run it because of the the cold.

Yea they would close Roaring Rapids because it is too cold. If you look at the sign on the entrance of the ride it said that it was closed due to weather.Carlo

Yeah it ended up being closed because of the cold (nobody was riding it). It opened up each day early but closed pretty quick both days.

ok....i thought it looked really weird seeing the water calm and not moving. It look pretty creepy just sitting there RED! lol I don't remember the park closing it last year because of weather....and last year was way colder than this year.

The odd thing about this is that Blood River in years past during FF was calmed down considerably. You basically didn't get wet while riding. This year when it was open, people were getting off the ride soaked. They should have made it like years past so it could stay open.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I wenton it on October 19th. I got soaked, they even had the worker maning the water cannons in the middle of the ride, I was shivering when I got off.
