June 3rd

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby BP317 on June 4th, 2009, 4:36 am
I went to SFMM today to ride Terminator and finished the day off going to Disneyland to see the new firework show Magical, which hasnt opened yet but they were doing a full show test run tonight before its opening night which is sometime next week I believe.

These first pics are from DLR Tuesday, SFMMs/fireworks are from Wednesday.

This construction wall is now up, so both sides of the path are walled off (left for World of Color and right for Little Mermaid)

The Corn Dog Castle is now closed

Gift shop closed

Image
Also closed to be rethemed over the next few years this entire area will be getting well needed spruce ups

Image
Mullholand Madness still open :( .....for now (or at least until around the time Silly Symphony Swings opens up)

Typical line for Toy Story Midway Mania

Image
Found "Traffic Trouble" to be a somewhat ironic and appropriate time for this picture. Speaking of which, people need to learn when park employees are asking you to keep moving in the designated walkway that means keep moving and not stand there blocking the designated walkway with strollers.

Image
I was pretty excieted to ride another GCI, especially one with an onboard soundtrack

Image

Image
I found some of the "theming" in the queue quite hilarious

Image

Image
The theming in the main queue isnt anything mindblowing. There were some cool props but they were surrounded by big open spaces of concrete or cheap looking walls.

Image
But regardless its still above average and certainly better than nothing.

Image
Found it kindve funny they just took what worked from Batmans line and used it for Terminator. BTR the ride flies above the police car crashed into a fire hydrant, Terminator is a semi truck buried in dirt :lolr:

Image
Time: now Seat: yes Smoking: no
WTF :lmao:

Image
It stopped on the lift before we got to the preshow, and sent test cycles around for a good half hour before opening back up

Image
This security lady walked around the line telling people not to sit on the handrails

Image
Last prop before the preshow, theming is starting to get more intense

Image
Me in front of the preshow building

Image
Suddenly the ride goes Universal Studios on you and the theming becomes amazing. The preshow areas are very immersive and really well done.

Image
Yes this is a very unorthodox ride, but it works. Terminator kicks major a**, the preshows leading up to the ride are top notch, its way faster and wilder than Evel Knievel, the onboard audio and tunnells make the ride much more enjoyable and put it over Renegade in my opinion. Its up there almost as good as Thunderhead.

Rode in the back row and was tracking smooth and intense, my best Scream! yet

Image
The themed SFTV programming in X2's line was replaced with general commercials :(

After X2 we left to go see the preview for the new firework show at Disneyland

They really don't have many flats and the ones they do have are nothing spectacular. For the size of this park, the flat count is a joke.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

It's meant to keep people from cutting in line. SFGAm does it on certain coasters when it is crowded.

The flats / water rides in the regular park are:

A Logger's Run type of ride.
A Splash Water Falls type of ride.
A Yankee Clipper type of ride.
A Roaring Rapids - I think it's actually called Roaring Rapids
Himilaya
Round-Up
Pirate Ship
A tower you take an elevator up, and than you go back down by the elevator (It's essentially like Sears Tower). It's a viewing area.
Scrambler
Bumper Cars
A Yo-Yo
I think they have a ride like the Pipeline that's at Kiddieland for water rides.

-They just recently took out the Intamin Generation Drop Tower 1, Tilt-A-Whirl, Antique car ride (for Thomas train), a Cajun Cliffhanger ride, and a Baveryn Kurve.

A Kids area with flats plus a Thomas themed train ride (Yes, 1 ride in that area.)

Instead of adding flats which the park needs badly, they put in a roller coaster, and they are getting another one. That makes sense.

Goliath Jr is in that area also (renamed) so 2 rides. Thomas Town is really small and lame compared to the other TT's.

They dont have many flats but one thing I noticed is that when the park is dead they dont close their kids rides like SFGAm does. Sometimes you can walk by Camp Cartoon or BBNP and the entire section is closed down when the park is not crowded. Every time I walk by Bugs Bunny World or Thomas Town they are open all day with nobody in them and the ride operators are standing at their rides waiting for people.
