Evacuating Floorless Coaster

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby coasterkid94 on June 2nd, 2009, 11:12 am
I know this might be a dumb question - but I always have wondered how they evacuate a floorless coaster when it gets stuck on the chain lift or the brake run. How would they get the riders off without anybody falling through the tracks?

for floorless... they would have a maint. guy come over with a metal "bridge".. and put on track between the rows... as for flying... they have a platforn that has its track.. look at superman lift... and look for the specal track thats is under the track
Six Flags Ameirca as the number 1 park at SFI.... this is JOKE!

Depends where the ride is during the breakdown. If its on certain areas of the track they can bring down the cars, but if its not then they bring in the box. They place the box underneath you while 2 mechanics slowly lower your restraint.

But if that ever happens to you then you've probably been sitting in the "flying" position for over a half hour and trust me that is NOT fun.

It really isn't but thinking about sitting in a SUF car kind of brought on that thought.

That makes sense. It must take a while to evacuate just one train with that system, though...

It also applie really to inverts...flying coasters are probably the hardest since you are on your stomach, so they hopefully keep it in the best condition possible.

Yes they have. One of my friends is a ride op in Superman and she said that they had to evac people on the lift. They used that moving platform and had the mechanics manually lower each row.

Its only hapenned once on SUF and thats just because they literally could not get the lift to move at all. Ive seen them start the lift with smoke billowing out of the motor to get people to service brake (at the end of the ride) to evacuate them from there so they wouldnt have to do it from the lift. Really not a good place to be evacuating people.

90+ feet of the spiral stairs on the MCBR of Raptor at night is enough for me.
