My ritual. Pimping Kiddieland once again.

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

I do this every year at this time and the veterans of this site know this.

If you can, head out to Kiddieland this coming weekend for their 81st opening weekend. If you visit the Jewel/Osco food store just down the street, grab a coupon, and you will get in for just $12.60. That gets you unlimited rides on all their flats , the Little Dipper wooden coaster, and unlimited Pepsi soft drinks throughout the day. Parking is free.

Please if you can patronize the park and make sure its around for years to come, that would be great. This is the oldest operating park in the Chicago area. When some of you decide to have kids, this is a great place to take them.

I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Three Cheers for Kiddieland! Seriously, I loved this place when I went to go visit my grandmother but, it might be a little weird if I went there now since I have no children. (being that a lot of their rides are directed towards them)

But seriously, it's a fun little park. Chitown is right it's great for the kids!

^Yeah, the security guy will stalk you. It's so wrong to not have kids. It's a carnival that's permament. If you think the park is only for kids, I dare any parent to go on the Polyp 20 times during the whole day, and see if you throw up or not. The same goes with the Tilt-A-Whirl.

In my opinion:

Polyp much, much better ride than East River Crawler.
Polyp in my opinion is one of my top 5 best lit rides. Number 10 is Triple Play (First SFGAm ride for my list), and that might get downgraded this year.
Scrambler better looking and speed than SFGam
Train better than SFGAm (Even though not crazy about the green train)

Little Dipper better than SFGAm's woodies
Let's me see, really slow boring Merry-Go-Round at SFGAm, or the fastest carousel I've been on at Kiddieland? Kings Island, and Busch Gardens are medium fast paced.
Bumper Cars are the hardest hitting bumper cars I've been on. Enjoyable!
Tilt-A-Whirl is better than All Star (NAME), Safari Land, Spectacular Amusements, and All Around Amusements. Comparable to Windy City, Fantasy, Alpine.
Dip N Drop is better than Giant Drop, and that junk Jumping Star in Wiggle's World.
Heck even the antique cars get rolling down hill action compared to SFGAm
Free Soda, free parking.
Better Log Flume than SFGAm
Better theme of a rocking boat ride than SFGAm

Downsides are that it doesn't have the bigger roller coasters, and tons and tons of rides like SFGAm does have including a waterpark. I like SFGAm better than Kiddieland, but Kiddieland is awesome in it's own right.

I'll agree with everything you said except, I'd take Viper or even American Eagle over Little Dipper any day of the week without a second thought. Little Dipper is fun and all, and it fits Kiddieland perfectly, however Viper/AE it is not.

I really wish I could go this weekend for the prices, but have to go later this year. The park is amazing and, for those dating or married, makes a perfect date spot :D .

Yeah but I'd take Sky Whirl over their Ferris Wheel. Their Ferris Wheel is one of the very few rides to scare me.

Better get your pimping done by the end of this year as the park will close for good after this season.
