Let us know how your day at the park was.

April 18th, 2009...

This has been my 7th park this season and I want to say that's #@$%in crazy. I really love my roommates. :D
This is really about Diamondback just so you know..........
So everyone and their momma/papa in the state of Ohio was expected to be there so the parking lot opened at 6am. We got there at 6 15am haha. You best believe we came prepared! We waited at the front of the security gates till around 8 15 in the cold. That's when the freakiness happened.

We ran to guest services to get our employee tickets. As they're takin our IDs, all you hear is screaming. I looked at the window and people we shoving, running and yellin with nothin but excitement to be those first batches of riders on the new "fierce" Diamonback. It was scary. People weren't playin around.
We got in the park and ran down international street turned the corner and waited for them to let us pile into the DB que. Everyone stood there jumping, pacing, tappin their feet and blabbin. I have never been part of somethin this crazy. I felt like I was waiting for the the largest coaster ever made.......and what I relaized(& as they advertised), to Kings Island, it is. "The man" came out with his megaphone and announced to have your passes ready. Anyone who didn't have a gold or premium season pass was denied early entry. Im glad I had my ID.

They let us in and people cheered and screamed and RAN! But we were stopped soon...there were so many people they had us start in Nick central Uturn around back to eifel tower and go back into NC and around the corner into DBs portable ques. So we were waiting since 6 30am but tech. only since 8 15 approx. We finally got our first ride very back row of red train at 10 25am!

The ride...
The trains are BEAUTIFUL! Especially green train! Ugh! Haha ...sexy. There are scales all over the train, the colors are vibrant and glowing and the fangs are BA. Haha. The trains are super huge...felt so diff from RagingBull.
There's really good airtime. I was floating...not gracefully floating but like scary floating throughout each ENTIRE hill! Its whoa! Haha. I love that at the bottom of the drops, the track curves transitioning directions left and right. Really loved that. The hammerhead or turnaround, whatever B&M calls 'em, was quick and forceful....not so much in the middle but the back yes. The block was like bulls. Didn't kill it basically.

Now the splashdown....that $%@# got me soaked both times I rode it the back. In the morning I was wearin my SFGAm hoodie(represent! Haha) and I of course had my arms up and the water shot my arm straight up soakin my entire left side of my body! I was like WTH! It was so cool. Haha..didn't upset me.

The only thing I did not like about the ride was that at the bottom of the major hills goin out tword the woods, it rattled my brain. It was odd...it wasn't rough it just hurt my head like a inside vibration. I dont know how to explain it...sorry. But all in all I DID NOT expect a lot out of it at all! It totally surprised me. It was really great. Its one of my favs now, definatley. The que is really quick and moves fast, Which is obv. nice.

Night ride was the best. It gets really dark and cold back there in the ravines. Brrr. Haha. But its great.

The entire day was packed cause of DB....everyone literally was there. I saw so many people I knew it was crazy. The ques for every ride were either full or close to. I've never seen it like that, nor has my friends who are from the area. But you had to expect it cause they marketed this like the millennium of cincinnati...seriously. The only rides I didn't get on was Backlot and Firehawk, thank god the park was open 10-10.

It was a really good day. And if you look on Kidiamonback.com they posted an aerial picture of the 4hr line for Diamondback....crazy. But def. Make a trip this summer if you can...it is def worth it. Just don't expect the most out of it and you'll be glad. Some just expected too much....but still don't under estimate either.

Take a strike on Diamondback... "your first ride may be your last".

Have a good night boys & girls!

I can't really understand the miraculous wonder of this ride compared to the other rides in the park. They have some other thrill rides, and they just got Firehawk more recently. I haven't been on this ride, and would love to ride it, but it seems like people think the park wasn't that good before this ride, and all of a sudden, it's great because they have a taller ride. Again, I probably would enjoy this ride, but still.

With that said, what other hypers or mega rides have you ridden, and can you tell me which ones you liked, and which ones you disliked? What out of those would you compare it to? From the video, it looks like a Goliath (at SFOG). It just goes up and down straight, up and down straight (like a out and back coaster), and not stupid slanted like Raging Bull.

For me: I don't care for Raging Bull, or Millenium Force (I consider them same category even though one's higher.)
Titan, and Goliath (SFMM) seem to me more like Raging Bull, but with even less airtime. However more intense than than those 2. Don't care for.
Steel Force is just bad (worse than those 4 - hardly any airtime)
Magnum is painful, and has stupid bugs at night (Horrible ride)

Superman: Ride of Steel (Six Flags America) & Six Flags Over Georgia's Goliath are on the same scale even though Superman seems quicker, and more intense. These are the only ones I do like. These are awesome!!!
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"

That's how EVERY night ride at Cedar Point is.

COMPLETELY agree.
I went out there for Firehawk's opening weekend, and I waited two hours, mainly because of a breakdown. It was always a great park, and the local enthusiasts were very welcoming and talked a lot. It just really sucks that a lot of people didn't give a two sh*ts about this park before Diamondback.

And a question for gottastratta... from the pictures I'm seeing it looks almost identical to Maverick's station. Yes? Also, how was the crew doing?

To answer both of your questions... theyll be all mixed up but here they are...

The station was very industrial. The outside looks like the basic of Mavericks but with out the added que house and water tower, etc. Id say its a closer look to patriots station at Worlds of fun.

As for the hyper coaster questions... That was what the surprise for me was...that i had never been on an out & back B&M hyper until last weekend when i rode Apollos chariot(trip report coming soon :D ). So thats what I had to compare it to. All my roomates had Behemoth to compare to. I took them to SFGAm opening day to experience Bull which is all ive ever been used to. However as for hypers, I have been on...

RagingBull, SFGAm
Superman:ROS, SFAm
Magnum Xl200, CP
Steel Force, Dorney
Apollos Chariot, BGE

So the closest one to would be, Id say AC at Busch. Which I really loved.

Park wise, personally id have to disagree. I have a great appreciation for KI for its atmosphere and plain beauty. SFGam will always hold first in my heart(aw  ) cause its what started it all as a child but other than that KI has been my favorite park. Its got what i think, an amazing lineup. & to be honest locals really love their park. Sadly most "Ohioans" let alone most of the world likes CP better only cause of its rides. Kings Island, like SFGAm has theming atmosphere & holds attention to small detail. So i loved KI before, but DB has just made it that much more great....they deserved it honestly.

I like that the first rider Tshirts came in everyone's sizes too...not just XL. They had small-xl...so happy about that. haha

I feel the same way about KI. I have always loved that park.

I just enjoy the layout, atmosphere, etc.

They don't have the best lineup of coasters, but what they have for the most part I enjoy. It's not that people thought the park sucked before Diamondback, its more along the lines of "why did it take this park of this size that long without having a Beemer". Also (not counting Son of Beast because it's a piece of sh,,,,) the park lacked a hyper until now.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Like I said, everyone & their family was there for Diamondback. They have been marketing the crap out of it. So everyone felt the need to be "the firsts" to experience it. So many of my friends that are Cedarpoint/faire employees were there just for that ride when they've never been to the park before and what made me happy was that they loved the park for all its other rides and the way the park looked. They said it was beautiful ans want to continue visiting throughout the summer.

A lot of them loved SOB too....way weird. i like it cause in a way its BA but its too damn shaky and painful. Just wish he had his loopyness still
