This took 9 months longer than it should have...
This is basically a 30-MINUTE video trip report of Dark Knight's Opening Day. I pretty much recorded everything from when I was standing at the admission gate to just before I got on the car. Why? Because there were some moments where I thought hell would break loose and I wanted to catch it on tape...
...instead I got the most random crap you will ever see at an amusement park.
Highlights: Got there around 8am, sat and waited at the gates, first one there Got in and everyone packed into the TDK area Six Flags Security can't control angry mobs ACErs argue with Ride Supervisors Randomness breaks out Stupid people ignore the dozens of people waiting outside and try to walk into the queue house anyway (x. 5) Security tries again to kill the line and fails eventually Whack-a-Guest More randomness Tee-Dee-Kay Freestyle Six Flags Over Europe Rave Night Messing with ACErs Even more randomness Lite-Brite the Ride Clapping for John Curty makes GP push and shove to the front of the line Boarded Dark Knight 2 hours later
Again, sorry everyone who was in this that it took so long to put this together. Enjoy: http://vimeo.com/2940585

Waiting for a closed ride, when surrounded by open rides, seems completely ignorant to me. Do you go to movie theaters and wait for movies that aren't showing? Do you go to a mall and stand in front of stores that are closed? You gotta love the thought process of 11-year-olds...
Remember back during fright fest when I opened up my trunk and you sat in there with your feet dangling facing backwards...then I did about 35 in the parking lot and slammed on my brakes repeatedly
I remember when Jon was in the trunk, I rolled the passenger seat window and shouted out to those girls "Hey ladies, check me out, I'm Jon Revelle!" good times good times

Eventually the ride is going to open. However, some of these people purposely went to SFGAm that day to get on the Dark Knight, and some people even want to be on it 1st to brag to other people that they were the first 5, 10, 15 people. While the Dark Knight isn't open though, and it opens later it will be a lot more packed. I don't think the enthusiasts that went to the park that day had a priority about going on Superman, or Raging Bull, but rather the brand new ride for 2008.
In general when it comes to amusement parks, people have different priorities. It's not ignorant of someone if a few people just want to people watch at the park for a hour, and enjoy the scenery, and neither is it ignorant if some people just want to ride rides the whole day. Some people play arcade games at the park while I rather just focus on the rides in the park. I can play arcade games somewhere else. It's just what type of person you are, and the people you are with.
I really like the part in this video when they start clapping, and than all the other people think the ride is open.
